James McAvoy Could Join Benedict Cumberbatch in DreamWorks’ WikiLeaks Film
We heard last week of Benedict Cumberbatch’s casting as Julian Assange in DreamWorks’ upcoming WikiLeaks drama, and now another Brit star is set to join him. James McAvoy is reportedly ‘close’ to signing a deal to co-star in the as yet untitled film.
The actor would play Daniel Domscheit-Berg, right-hand man to WikiLeaks head Julian Assange. The film is to be partially based on his book, ‘Inside WikiLeaks: My Time with Julian Assange at the World’s Most Dangerous website’, and ‘WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War on Secrecy’ by David Leigh and Luke Harding.
Universal will attempt to compete with the project, with a WikiLeaks documentary in the pipeline, and HBO, Universal and Megan Ellison are also working on their own films.
