Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Good Universe Acquire Multipicture Rights to Susan Ee’s ‘Angelfall’
These days, once a book series become bestsellers and hit the hungry young adult demographic, a film adaptation is inevitable. Susan Ee’s Angelfall is one such property, which has just been snapped up by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Good Universe.
The fantasy series was initially self-published and is the author’s debut novel, with a second installment due in fall 2013. Like most young adult genre stories, the book features mythical creatures in the modern world and a young girl in a somewhat forbidden romance. This time it’s angels of the apocalypse, who kidnap the heroine’s sister.
Sam Raimi said, “Susan is a brilliant writer. She has created a fantastic world with instantly engaging and real characters. I immediately connected with the material and knew that she had conceived the perfect combination for a great fantasy film.”
