You Can’t Repeat the Past in Second Trailer for Baz Luhrman’s ‘The Great Gatsby’
Any trailer for a Baz Luhrman (‘Moulin Rouge’; ‘Romeo + Juliet’) film is going to show off the director’s trademark visual style and unique way in which he adapts well-known texts, but the first trailer for The Great Gatsby didn’t really let those unfamiliar with the novel in on what the thing was all about. This second teaser does this much better, but it hasn’t lost any of its apparent flair and ambition. It’s in 3D, no less, which is somewhat unprecedented for a straight drama.
Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke and Amitabh Bachchan, ‘The Great Gatsby’ is released in select theatres on May 10th, with the Cannes premiere a few days later on May 15th.
