LucasFilm Cancels ‘Star Wars’ Prequel 3D Re-Releases to Focus on New Trilogy
It’s hard to believe anyone but hard-care fans would want to go see the last two Star Wars prequels in their 3D re-release formats anyway, but news has arrived that LucasFilm will be cancelling plans to follow new screenings of ‘The Phantom Menace’ the next five movies, in order to concentrate on the new trilogy.
It’s a rare stroke of logic from a company notorious for their tendency to cash-in at every opportunity, and will surely sooth the worries of many alienated fans. In general, there’s an air of optimism surrounding the franchise of late that probably hasn’t been felt since before ‘Attack of the Clones’ reared its head.
J.J. Abrams was announced as the new director a few days ago, and we can expect ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ to blast onto screens in 2015.
