Former ‘Walking Dead’ Showrunner Glen Mazzara to Pen ‘The Shining’ Prequel
He may have more recent experience with zombies than ghosts, but former ‘Walking Dead’ showrunner, Glen Mazzara, has been hired to write a prequel movie for Stanley Kubrick’s ‘The Shining’, The Overlook Hotel.
You might note that reports are calling the film a prequel to Kubrick’s adaptation, and not to the novel on which it’s based. The film is being developed at Warner Bros. and produced by Mythology Entertainment’s Bradley Fischer, James Vanderbilt and Laeta Kalogridis.
Mazzara will be a popular choice after succeeding Frank Darabont on AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ (he ‘stepped down’ in December), and fans of the 1980 haunted hotel horror will be eager to see what he can do with ‘The Overlook Hotel’.
