Poster Round-Up: ‘300: Rise of an Empire’ and ‘Only God Forgives’
Yes, those who saw 300 know most everyone died. That’s the point of the movie. That doesn’t stop studios from making more movies, though (this shouldn’t come as a shock). Technically it’s a prequel, but 300: Rise of an Empire is almost a “sidequel” since it will center on the Battle of Artemisium, which occurred around the same time as the Battle of Thermopylae (from 300).
As the above poster points out, the battle was largely done at sea. Returning Rodrigo Santoro (as Xerxes) and adding Sullivan Stapleton and Eva Green, Rise of an Empire is based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel Xerxes, is directed by Noam Murro and releases August 2, 2013.
A teaser poster for Nicolas Winding Refn’s upcoming Only God Forgives. The poster, which can be viewed below, is flamboyantly neon and doesn’t give a whole lot away about the plot.
Refn’s follow-up to Drive (one of the best movies of 2011) focuses on a man forced to find his brother’s killer. It stars Ryan Gosling and Kirstin Scott Thomas.
Only God Forgives will release stateside July 19, 2013.
