Comedy Sequel Round-Up: Future Plans in the Works for ‘Dodgeball,’ ‘The Heat,’ and ‘Ride Along’
Over the past couple days, news has surfaced about potential sequels. In the land of sequels and remakes, this isn’t particularly surprising. At least one is exciting, depending on your taste, and the other two are sequels for movies that haven’t even hit theaters yet.
Close to a decade ago, Rawson Marshall Thurber threw Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story at audiences. Still today it is one of the most quotable comedies. Just like Anchorman, a sequel took a long time. However, it appears writers have been hired to start developing a follow-up.
Two other films – The Heat and Ride Along – reportedly have sequel plans, too. The kicker here is the originals both haven’t been released yet. The Heat is a good-cop/bad-cop comedy directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. Ride Along, on the other hand, is directed by Tim Story (Think Like a Man) and stars Ice Cube and Kevin Hart as a police officer and security guard that are soon-to-be in-laws.
Keep your eye out for more information on potential sequels!
