Colin Firth to Team Up with ‘X-Men: First Class’ Director Matthew Vaughn for ‘The Secret Service’
Academy-Award winner Colin Firth (The King’s Speech) is taking an acting turn some may not expect.
Matthew Vaughn’s The Secret Service isn’t due for awhile (it’ll release November 14, 2014), but the comic book-inspired film found its first big name with Firth. Unfortunately, he won’t be playing the lead role. Instead, he’ll be the supporting uncle.
The six-part comic book was co-created by Vaughn (X-Men: First Class) and he co-wrote the screenplay as well. The premise is James Bond-esque, since it tells the story of a recruited British spy going to work in the rough parts of London. The spy gets recruited by Firth’s character.
How does it sound to you? Colin Firth in a comic book movie? It’s certainly unexepcted.
