Disney Casts Lily James, Their Newest Princess, in the Upcoming Live-Action ‘Cinderella’
It appears Disney has cast their new Cinderella. Details are very sparse, but we do know Lily James (PBS’ Downton Abbey) is set to play the iconic princess in the upcoming live-action adaptation.
Cinderella currently has a director, Sir Kenneth Branagh (Thor), and an evil stepmother, Cate Blanchett (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey). Other credits include Aline Brosh McKenna (We Bought a Zoo) and Chris Weitz (American Pie) as writers.
There is no specified release date. However, we do know it’ll land in theaters sometime in 2014. James doesn’t have a large filmography, but she is best known for her turn in Downton Abbey (during Season Three and she’ll return for Season Four).
