First Picture from the First Adaptation of ‘As I Lay Dying’ with James Franco
I can’t believe William Faulkner’s novel As I Lay Dying has never been adapted to the screen. This is almost unheard of in a time where virtually anything and everything gets adapted.
Maybe for good reason, though, because the book heavily relies on stream of consciousness. This doesn’t make it the most adaptable piece of work. There are tons of characters (15 I believe) that narrate the story directly as they think it.
James Franco, who directed and stars in upcoming film, wrote the script. Kudos to him for putting it together. The film is set to play at this year’s Cannes Film Festival (next month). It also stars Logan Marshall-Green (Prometheus) and Jim Parrack (HBO’s True Blood).
As I Laying Dying currently doesn’t have a release date. However, the first image was made available late last week. It includes Franco and Parrack. Keep your ears tuned for more information.
