Warner Brothers Pays Jeff Nichols to Re-Team with Michael Shannon for ‘Midnight Special’
It’s about time! After three stellar films (Shotgun Stories, Take Shelter, and most recently Mud), Jeff Nichols has been promoted from indie filmmaker to the big leagues. I doubt this will hurt the quality of his films…
Nichols is not only one of my favorite up-and-coming directors, but he is one of my favorites in general.
Like his previous three films, Nichols will team up with Michael Shannon for the sci-fi film titled Midnight Special. Technically, Shannon appeared in last month’s Mud, but his role wasn’t very large.
The new film was described as a contemporary science-fiction chase film, but more details aren’t currently available. Nichols also wrote the film, which isn’t that surprising either.
Production will start next February with no specified release date yet. I’m confident, though, he’ll finally get a wide release so audiences won’t have to wait to see his work.
