Sony Sets 3D Comedy Based on ‘Angry Birds’ for 2016 Release
I can picture the two reactions to the Angry Birds movie news:
1) The smartphone-wielding men and women rejoicing. Finally! Our favorite app (which, by the way, is the all-time leader for paid apps) is becoming a movie. Not only that, but it’s going to be a 3D comedy. If only we didn’t have to wait so long…
2) The rest of us rolling our eyes. Have we truly run out of movie ideas? There aren’t movies about Nintendo 64’s insanely popular (and awesome!) Mario Kart. It’s for a reason. Although maybe it has to do with licensing.
I’m more of the cynical type. An Angry Birds movie doesn’t really appeal to me. However, regardless of my thoughts, it’s coming our way. Sony gained the rights to the film and will develop it in 3D. There is a lot of time between now and its release date (set for July 1, 2016 as of now), so plenty can change.
What are your thoughts?
