Casting Round-Up: Josh Brolin (‘Inherent Vice’), Joel McHale (‘Beware of the Night’), Katharine McPhee (‘Depravity’), and T.J. Miller (‘Transformers 4’)
In the latest round of casting briefs, I’ve collected the following pieces of news:
Josh Brolin (True Grit) joins the already stellar cast of Inherent Vice. P.T. Anderson’s (The Master) next film also stars Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, and Owen Wilson. No release date has been set. (Source: Deadline)
Joel McHale (NBC’s Community) looks to be joining the supernatural thriller Beware of the Night. This may seem like a curious role for him, especially given his comedic past. However, maybe a change-of-pace will be good for him? Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) will be directing the film and it also doesn’t have a release date. (Source: THR)
Katharine McPhee (NBC’s Smash) will star in Depravity, which is a thriller as well. The film by Paul Tamasy, which is still without a release date, is about a group of friends that kill an innocent man they think is guilty. McPhee will play one of the scapegoats as they try to pin the killing on her. (Source: Deadline)
T.J. Miller (Fox’s The Goodwin Games) will play Mark Wahlberg’s best friend in Transformers 4. Michael Bay’s next Transformers movie has also added fresh faces in Stanley Tucci and Kelsey Grammer. The film will release on June 27, 2014. (Source: THR)
