Casting Shorts: Tom Hardy in ‘The Outsider’, Javier Bardem in ‘A Most Violent Year’ & ‘The Gunman’, and ‘Community’ Stars in ‘Hot Tub Time Machine 2’
With casting news aplenty (seriously, there’s been a lot lately), I’ve narrowed down the most “important” ones below. Important is in quotations because it’s very subjective. Anyway, read on…
Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises) landed a starring role in The Outsider. It’ll be directed by Japanese filmmaker Takashi Miike (Thirteen Assassins). It’ll be his English-language debut and Hardy will play a W.W.II G.I. that adapts to being part of the Japanese yakuza. There isn’t a release date yet. (Source: Deadline)
Javier Bardem (No Country For Old Men) nabbed two roles recently. First is J.C. Chandor’s (Margin Call) A Most Violent Year. Details are very sparse on this pic. The second role Bardem landed was in Pierre Morel’s The Gunman. It’s written by Pete Travis. These films will start shooting soon, so release dates and details are yet to come. (Source: Collider)
Lastly, Community stars Chevy Chase and Gillian Jacobs will both appear in Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Although Chase is no longer part of Community, the two are still linked by the great TV series. Jacobs will be the female lead, whereas Chase will simply reprise his role in the original Time Machine. Unfortunately, like the others, details aren’t readily available. (Source: Deadline)
That’s it for now!
