‘The Purge’ Sequel In The Works
Following its week long success at the box-office and positive reception, The Purge already has a sequel in the works. The thriller’s producer Jason Blum and Universal Studios has announced that they are now working on a follow-up, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Blum, who helped produce all four installments of ‘Paranormal Activity’, shared the development of the sequel on his Twitter page. “The Purge 2 is in development @UniversalHorror #ThePurge,” Blum said.
‘The Purge’ follows the Sandin family and their community, who all attempt try to survive a 12-hour period in which all crime is legalized by the government to crack down on the over population of prisons. The police aren’t available, the hospitals are suspended with crime raging out of control. Ethan Hawke (Before Sunset) and Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) star with a supporting cast that includes Max Burkholder (Parenthood), Adelaide Kane (Teen Wolf) and Rhys Wakefield (Home and Away). Word on whether director James DeMonaco will return to oversee the sequel has yet to be confirmed.
