Clip Mania: Pacific Rim, White House Down, The Heat, Red 2, Don Jon, Fruitvale Station, & Liars All
In our inaugural Clip Mania post, I’ll be releasing this week’s hottest new clips. These clips come from Pacific Rim, White House Down, The Heat, Red 2, Don Jon, Fruitvale Station, and Liars All.
Feel free to check out our trailers, posters, photos, and news posts for this week.
The first clip for Pacific Rim, Guillermo del Toro’s newest film, came out earlier. Titled “Last Man Down,” it stars Idris Elba (HBO’s The Wire). The robots vs. monsters movie will release on July 12 and is in my top 5 anticipated movies from this summer.
Three clips from this weekend’s (it’s out starting today) White House Down also released online earlier. All three clips, titled “Shoot Him,” “There’s a Friendly on the Roof,” and “Please Don’t” were all partially shown in the trailers. However, if you want to see the whole clips, check them out. White House Down is directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day) and stars Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx.
The other wide release from this weekend – Paul Feig’s (Bridesmaids) – released an array of clips, too. I’ve released five, titled: “Spanx,” (my favorite) “Drunk Dancing,” “This is Awkward,” “Good Cop Bad Cop,” and “Welcome Home.” They all show the two major stars: Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy is what could potentially be the comedy of the summer (we’ll debate this later).
Also with five clips, Red 2 continued to ramp up its marketing. Directed by Dean Parisot (Fun with Dick and Jane), the sequel again stars Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Anthony Hopkins, and Helen Mirren. It’ll release one week after the aforementioned Pacific Rim on July 19. The clips are titled “Show Me Something,” “Enjoy Life,” “No Safety,” “One Place,” and “Street Attack.”
Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut (one I’m looking forward to quite a bit) had a semi-recent trailer. Now, we have a clip. Don Jon’s (formally titled Don Jon’s Addiction) first clip shows co-star Scarlett Johansson meeting Gordon-Levitt’s parents. The movie releases September 27.
Fruitvale Station (formally titled Fruitvale), Ryan Coogler’s directorial debut, has been on a marketing tear recently. It continues with three clips titled “Tough Love,” “I’m Scared,” and “Don’t Make Me Go Through This Alone.” They are apparently setting the film’s depressing tone. The based-on-a-true-story tragedy releases July 26 after a fruitful film festival run. Michael B. Jordan (Chronicle) is the main star.
Lastly, another independent pic, titled Liars All, debuted an official clip. Billed as a psychological thriller, it stars Matt Lanter (CW’s 90210) and Sara Paxton (Discovery’s Darcy’s Wild Life) and is directed by Brian Brightly. The clip releases ahead of the November 29 release.
That does it for this week! Check back on Monday for another batch of trailers! Have a great weekend.
