Photo Mania: Inside Llewyn Davis, Noah, The Counselor, Lee Daniels’ The Butler, Escape Plan, The Frozen Ground, Blue Jasmine, & Paradise Lost
Coming off the heels of new trailers and new posters, I’ve got some new photos from upcoming movies. In this week’s Photo Mania, there are new images for Inside Llewyn Davis, Noah, The Counselor, Lee Daniels’ The Butler, Escape Plan, The Frozen Ground, Blue Jasmine, and Paradise Lost.
As always, all available photos (50 total) are at the very bottom of the article.
The Coen Brothers are finally releasing a new film – titled Inside Llewyn Davis – after the success of True Grit. Largely considered some of the best working directors today, their newest film is very musical. It stars Justin Timberlake and Carey Mulligan and is about a songwriter in 1960’s New York. The two newest stills are above. Inside Llewyn Davis releases December 6.
Darren Aronofsky is another director with a strong following. Aronofsky also hasn’t released a movie in the last couple of years, so his follow-up to Black Swan is growing steam. Noah, an epic about the biblical character, won’t release until March 28, 2013. In a batch of new photos, you can see some of the stars like Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins, and Emma Watson. All six photos are available below. (Source: The Film Stage)
With the release of the teaser trailer, Ridley Scott’s The Counselor also unveiled new photos. One of them (the one I attached above) shows Javier Bardem’s wacky get-up. The film (that releases October 25) also stars Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt. (Source: Bleeding Cool)
The Weinstein Company’s Oscar-bait film Lee Daniels’ The Butler also released photos. There are 8 (most below) photos for the historical drama starring Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland) and Oprah Winfrey. Spanning across 8 presidential campaigns, the film about a White House butler should be a winner when it releases August 16. (Source: IndieWire)
Three photos for Escape Plan (formally The Tomb) released alongside the new trailer. All three photos feature Sylvester Stallone, but unfortunately we don’t have a look at Arnold Schwarzenegger yet. The movie releases October 18.
Nicolas Cage and John Cusack’s The Frozen Ground is based on a true story about an Alaskan detective. I’ve already likened the film to Christopher Nolan’s remake of Insomnia, so hopefully it joins that company. The thriller won’t release until August 23 (on Video On Demand, too) and there are four total stills available here. (Source: Collider)
Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine releases in limited release on July 26 (why it’s only limited is anyone’s guess) and 20 photos surfaced recently. The drama about a New York housewife going through an “acute crisis” stars Alec Baldwin and Cate Blanchett. Check out all the photos below.
Lastly, I’ve got the exciting first look at Benecio del Toro (Traffic) as the Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. In Paradise Lost, directed by Andrea Di Stefano, he’ll play the uncle of a woman that falls in love with a young boy. The young boy is no other than star Josh Hutcherson. There isn’t a release date yet, but I believe it’ll come out in 2014. (Source: Bleeding Cool)
That does it for this week’s photos. Check back next Wednesday for more!
