Poster Mania: The Maze Runner, Pacific Rim, Jobs, Oldboy, Rush, Machete Kills, & Lovelace
With today’s edition of Poster Mania, I’ll be showing the latest from The Maze Runner, Pacific Rim, Jobs, Oldboy, Rush, Machete Kills, and Lovelace. For the most part, I’ve attached all the posters within the post (except for The Maze Runner).
Also, check out yesterday’s Trailer Round-Up for the newest trailers.
20th Century Fox’s film adaptation of James Dashner’s popular novel, The Maze Runner, started a Twitter live-chat campaign recently. Unfortunately, the chat has now finished (it was yesterday). However, as part of the campaign, 12 character posters were released. The above ones show stars Dylan O’Brien (MTV’s Teen Wolf), Thomas Sangster (HBO’s Game of Thrones), and Will Poulter (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader). The Maze Runner will hit theaters February 14, 2014. (Source: Facebook)
Much like last week’s post, I’ve got another set of posters showing a monster and robot from Guillermo del Toro’s sci-fi film Pacific Rim. Releasing July 12, I’m really excited for the movie that stars Idris Elba (HBO’s The Wire) and Charlie Hunnam (FX’s Sons of Anarchy). (Source: Facebook)
After last week’s trailer, the Steve Jobs biopic also released a colorful poster. The some-would-say-LSD-inspired poster is a close-up of Ashton Kutcher as the famous Apple innovator. Jobs, directed by Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote), releases August 16.
Spike Lee (Inside Man) fans are chomping at the bit for his next film, and they can get their first look at Josh Brolin above. The first poster came out yesterday in front of the October 25 release date. The film is a remake of the popular (and brutal) South Korean thriller that helped put Park Chan-wook’s name on the map.
Another beloved director, Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind), has a release coming up. Rush, the biographical film about James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) and Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl), unveiled two new posters. One of them is obviously an international poster and both look pretty similar (a whole lot of standing and staring). The movie releases nationwide September 20. (Source: First Showing)
In case you missed it, Machete Kills, Robert Rodriguez’s follow-up to Machete, tabbed Charlie Sheen (credited as Carlos Estévez) as the President of the United States. You can see him totting an assault rifle in the newest poster. For those interested, Kills opens October 4th and it returns Danny Trejo as the title character.
Lovelace, a biopic about Linda Lovelace, released a slightly scandalous poster. The leggy poster is to promote a film about an infamous pornstar (played by Amanda Seyfried) before the porn-boom. Howl directors Rob Epstein and Jerry Friedman direct Seyfried (Les Misérables), Peter Sarsgaard (Shattered Glass), and more in the film that releases on August 9.
That does it folks. Check back tomorrow for the latest photos, Thursday for the newest breaking news, and Friday for all the week’s clips.
