Photo Mania: R.I.P.D., Gravity, Delivery Man, Out of the Furnace, Odd Thomas, Sweetwater, & Snowpiercer
After the latest trailers and posters, today I’ve got the newest pictures from the past week. Among the ones released, I will be focusing on R.I.P.D., Gravity, Delivery Man, Out of the Furnace, Odd Thomas, Sweetwater, and Snowpiercer.
Ten new photos for Robert Schwentke’s (Flightplan) upcoming R.I.P.D., starring Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds, released last week. The Men in Black-like action movie releases July 19. It is based on a comic book by Peter M. Lenkov about a group of dead agents that hunt down other dead souls causing havoc to the living. (Source: Collider)
The space thriller Gravity, by Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men), has one of the most chilling trailers. And although the newest released photo isn’t as eerie, it does give us another look at Sandra Bullock. Bullock is one of just four cast members…with two of the cast being just voices. The other star is George Clooney. Gravity is about a pair of astronauts that become stranded in space after an unfortunate accident. After being delayed to 2013, it’ll finally release October 4. After the first full-length trailer, Ken Scott’s (Starbuck) Delivery Man also added five photos. Starring Vince Vaughn, Delivery Man is an English-language remake of the French-Canadian film Starbuck (also directed by Scott). I think it’s an unnecessary remake, but maybe it’ll be funnier with stars like Vaughn, Chris Pratt (NBC’s Parks and Recreation), and Cobie Smulders (CBS’ How I Met Your Mother). It releases November 22.
Somehow, Scott Cooper’s (Crazy Heart) Out of the Furnace has gone completely under my radar. I’m hoping to help it become known for you guys as well because it has a great cast – including Christian Bale, Woody Harrelson, and Casey Affleck (Gone Baby Gone) – even if the premise seems a little overdone. Releasing in limited theaters November 27, two photos for the release are now available.
Odd Thomas, the newest from Stephen Sommers (Van Helsing), released some new photos, perhaps to distract people from the release date uncertainty. Although the film is complete, there are still monetary disputes, pushing the movie back indefinitely. However, 18 photos are available (some above, some below) for your enjoyment. Starring Anton Yelchin (Star Trek Into Darkness) and Willem Dafoe (The Boondock Saints), the adaptation of Dean Koontz’s novel will hopefully resolve the issue soon. (Source: IndieWire)
The confusingly titled Sweetwater (marketed as Sweet Vengeance some places) released a trailer and photos this week. Logan Miller’s (Touching Home) Western stars a long-haired Ed Harris (A History of Violence) and January Jones (AMC’s Mad Men). Set in New Mexico during the 1800s, the Western is about three characters that violently become entangled. I’m not sure much more beyond that, including a release date. Check out all the photos below. (Source: IndieWire)
Finally, the Korean/American thriller Snowpiercer, helmed by Bong Joon-ho (Mother), released a bunch of photos. Also featuring Ed Harris, Snowpiercer has a great cast including Chris Evans (Captain America: The First Avenger) and Tilda Swinton (Michael Clayton). The plot picks up after a devastating global warming experiment where a traveling train (called “Snowpiercer”) experiences a revolt due to the class relations within it. The post-modern thriller releases in Korea soon, but a U.S. date hasn’t been announced by The Weinstein Company yet. Soon hopefully! Check out all the pictures below. (Source: Bleeding Cool)
