Clip Mania: The Wolverine, R.I.P.D., Lee Daniels’ The Butler, The Frozen Ground, & The To Do List
To finish out the week (behind the newest trailers, posters, photos, and news breaks), I’ve got all the newest clips from The Wolverine, R.I.P.D., Lee Daniels’ The Butler, The Frozen Ground, and The To Do List. Scroll for all the clips and movie information!
Five different clips for James Mangold’s (Walk the Line) The Wolverine released ahead of the end-of-the-month release. Two of them (“Extended Train Fight Scene” and “Funeral”) are more action or plot-orientated, while the other three are more like character introductions. Those three show Yukio (Rila Fukushima), Viper (Svetlana Khodchenkova), and Jean (Famke Janssen). The next X-Men movie releases July 26 and again stars Hugh Jackman as the iconic Wolverine character.
With just a week to go, I found three clips for Robert Schwentke’s (Red) R.I.P.D. Starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges as members of an elite group of dead agents that try to rid the natural world of the lurking dead. R.I.P.D. officially releases July 19th. If you can get past the subtitles, you’ll see two exposition-heavy clips (explaining the premise) and one highlighting the action.
Very serious clip for Lee Daniels’ (Precious) next film Lee Daniels’ The Butler surfaced this past week. Highlighting an older-looking Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland) in the sprawling period drama, the clip shows him getting uncharacteristically (I assume) angry. Even Oprah Winfrey gets a little heated, so I’d suggest checking it out. Lee Daniels’ The Butler, which may be titled something else when it releases, premieres August 16. (Source: MovieFone)
Two short clips, titled “Get All You Can From the Archive” and “She Stays on the List”, from Scott Walker’s thriller The Frozen Ground also went viral. They aren’t anything too spectacular, but they do show Nicolas Cage as an Alaskan detective. In the movie, he’ll be searching for a murderous psychopath (played by John Cusack) based on a true story during the 1980’s. The movie will make it to theaters (and On-Demand) August 23rd.
The Aubrey Plaza (NBC’s Parks and Recreation)-starring high school romantic comedy The To Do List unveiled a couple clips before its release later this month. Directed by Maggie Carey, I haven’t been as impressed with the trailer as I have the cast. Also starring Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad) and Rachel Bilson (Jumper), The To Do List is about a high school senior (Plaza) looking for more sexual experience. Hopefully it turns out better than it sounds. We’ll find out July 26 when it releases.
That does it for this week’s version of Clip Mania. Check back next week as we start back over with Trailers on Monday!
