Poster Mania: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, 300: Rise of an Empire, Out of the Furnace, Edge of Tomorrow, The LEGO Movie, & Extracted
Following last weekend’s Comic-Con, plenty of posters have made it online in time for this week’s Poster Mania. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, 300: Rise of an Empire, Edge of Tomorrow, and The LEGO Movie all had panels in Hall H. Besides those, Out of the Furnace and Extracted both had new posters.
You can check them out below.
11 Quarter Quell posters released for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. For those that don’t know, every 25 years they have a special type of Hunger Games. Book 2 is based on the novel Catching Fire and will deal primarily with The Quarter Quell. To catch you up on some of the participants, check the rest of the photos below. Francis Lawrence directs Jennifer Lawrence and company in the dystopia that release November 22.
Coming off an extraordinary panel, X-Men: Days of Future Past released two posters showing the actors playing Magneto and Dr. X. I’m really excited for Bryan Singer’s return to the franchise. The movie will premiere on May 23, 2014. (Source: EW)
Before Comic-Con got going, a teaser poster for Captain America: The Winter Soldier came online. There wasn’t a whole lot to see, but it did highlight his greatest prop – the shield. The Winter Soldier is directed by the Russo Brothers and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and Samuel L. Jackson. It’ll be available April 4, 2014.
Another Comic-Con movie, 300: Rise of an Empire, unveiled a new poster. The comic book-esque style of the poster plays up the comic book roots (it’s a follow-up to Frank Miller’s 300). Rise of Empire starts playing March 7, 2014. It stars Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, and Rodrigo Santoro. (Source: Collider)
Out of the Furnace has been a tear recently. There was a new trailer and new photos, and now we have a new poster. It highlights Christian Bale, and the movie co-stars Casey Affleck and Woody Harrelson. Scott Cooper’s film releases November 27, then December 6 nationwide.
Not a lot was known about Edge of Tomorrow before Comic-Con. It was retitled (used to be All You Need is Kill) and footage was shown in San Diego. The premise has promise, but I have a feeling the biggest draw is Tom Cruise + Science-Fiction. The blockbuster, directed by Doug Liman, also stars Emily Blunt. It’ll release June 6, 2014. Next year’s first animated movie (I think) will be The LEGO Movie, which is supposed to be an homage to the various Lego amateur movies. With Warner Brothers licensing, the film uses Lego universes like Batman, Superman, and etc. A new poster for the all-things-Lego movie came online before their panel this past weekend. You can see the movie on February 7, 2014. Phil Lord and Chris Miller are the directors with voice stars Chris Pratt (his character is in the poster), Will Ferrell, Will Arnett, Morgan Freemand, and Liam Neeson. (Source: Collider)
The sci-fi independent film Extracted also released a poster. Directed by Nir Paniry and starring Sasha Roiz, Jenny Mollen, and Dominic Bogart, Extracted is about a scientist that enters the mind of a heroin addict to see if he killed someone. The movie plays On Demand this weekend, starting July 26.
That does it for this week in Poster Mania. Check back tomorrow for the newest photos!
