Clip Mania: The Counselor, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Jobs, and More
After this week’s trailers, posters, photos, and news updates, I’ve collected the newest clips for upcoming movies (some even starting today).
Below you will find three clips for The Counselor, one extended clip for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, three more for Jobs, three more for Lee Daniels’ The Butler, as well as one for I Give it a Year and The Lifeguard. Enjoy!
Ridley Scott’s (Prometheus) The Counselor is quickly approaching. Three clips came online that show some of the stars, including Michael Fassbender (Prometheus), Penélope Cruz (Blow), Javier Bardem (Skyfall), and Brad Pitt. Interesting note for the movie: Cormac McCarthy (author of No Country for Old Men) wrote the screenplay. The movie is set to release October 25th.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones finally released the extended clip I saw at Comic-Con last month. Featuring Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, and others, the clip gives you a good idea of what the film is about. It explains what a “shadowhunter” is and explains why Clary (Collins) has powers of both shadowhunters and normal humans. Harald Zwart (The Karate Kid) directs the picture that will release August 21st.
Jobs, the biopic about the Apple innovator Steve Jobs, released three more clips. Taking a break from the Instagram marketing, the regular clips are titled “We Need Help,” “A Name,” and “Negotiating.” I like the “A Name” clip the best, mostly because of the ties to Star Trek. Ashton Kutcher stars as Jobs in Joshua Michael Stern’s (Swing Vote) movie that release August 16th.
Three clips also came online for Lee Daniels’ The Butler. They all illustrate the period part of the period drama. They also continue to play up Oprah Winfrey’s role in the film. The third clip (titled “Water Fountain”) finally gets to the main star, Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland). Lee Daniels’ (Precious) movie releases August 16th.
I Give it a Year technically releases today. If you are on the fence about seeing it, perhaps this clip will put you over the edge. Dan Mazer directs Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids), Rafe Spall (Prometheus), Anna Faris (The House Bunny), and Simon Baker (The Devil Wears Prada). Faris looks noticeably different in the clip for those interested.
Another movie that is available (On Demand at least) released a clip as well. The Lifeguard most notably stars Kristen Bell (Forgetting Sarah Marshall). Liz W. Garcia acts as writer and director of the film that sees Bell’s character fall in love with a 16 year old boy. Yup, that’s the plot. The movie releases in theaters August 30th.
Thanks for tuning in. Have a good weekend!
