Poster Mania: Gravity, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, You’re Next, and More
After this week’s Trailer Round-Up, I’ve compiled the newest posters for Gravity, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, You’re Next, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, The Fifth Estate, Parkland, Dom Hemingway, and Mother of George.
Check back tomorrow for the newest photos! Enjoy.
A batch of posters for Alfonso Cuarón’s (Children of Men) Gravity came online earlier. All four posters are available for the space thriller below. It only stars two characters (played by Sandra Bullock and George Clooney), but it could (key word: could) make a huge splash in the awards race this year. (Source: Bleeding Cool)
A sort-of poster for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire went up on a viral site that introduced Johanna Mason (played by Jena Malone). For those that don’t know, she is the District 7 victor in the Quarter Quell. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire returns stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth. It’s directed by Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) and releases November 22nd. You can check out the viral site in the source. (Source: Capitol Couture)
The horror film You’re Next has had a weird (I can’t really explain it) path to the big screen. After being introduced way back in 2011 at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), You’re Next had to wait until this weekend to finally release. As part of the accelerated marketing, you can check out a poster above. Adam Wingard (V/H/S) directs the film that stars Sharni Vinson (Step Up 3D), Wendy Glenn (11-11-11), and some other not-so-well-known actors. It’ll be available starting August 23rd. Six posters came online for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, which voice stars Bill Hader (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), Anna Faris (House Bunny), Andy Samberg (I Love You, Man), and Neil Patrick Harris (CBS’s How I Met Your Mother). The posters, like all the trailers, are full of food puns. The sequel is directed by Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn. Check them all out below. (Source: IMP Awards)
Bill Condon’s (Twilight) The Fifth Estate also unveiled a poster, which shows stars Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek Into Darkness) and Daniel Brühl (Inglorious Basterds). The movie, which releases October 18th (after it’s TIFF screening in September), also stars Anthony Mackie (Pain & Gain) and Stanley Tucci (The Hunger Games).
photos last week, Parkland also released a poster. The period drama about Parkland Memorial after the JFK assassination will also play at TIFF before releasing in U.S. theaters starting September 20th. For technicals, Peter Landesman wrote and directed the film that stars Zac Efron (17 Again), Billy Bob Thornton (Armageddon), and Paul Giamatti (The Illusionist). (Source: Yahoo!)
Dom Hemingway, a black comedy/crime drama, released two posters above for their TIFF screening as well. It won’t make it to U.S. theaters until April 4, 2014, though. When it does make it, we can expect to see Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes), Demián Bichir (A Better Life), and Emilia Clarke (HBO’s Game of Thrones). Richard Shepard (The Hunting Party) serves as director. (Source: Collider)
To end things, I’ve attached a poster for Mother of George. Andrew Dosunmu’s (Restless City) film is about a Nigerian couple living in Brooklyn that experience fertility problems. The drama most notably stars Danai Guira (AMC’s The Walking Dead) and will release in limited theaters September 13th.
Thanks for tuning in this week. We’ll see you next Tuesday for more posters.
