Poster Mania: Transformers: Age of Extinction, Thor: The Dark World, and More
Posters generally make less waves than other marketing (especially when you look at how popular trailers and photos are). However, this week could be a little different. I’ll build on last week’s posters of The Secret World of Walter Mitty, while also adding new posters for Transformers: Age of Extinction, Thor: The Dark World, Prisoners, The Counselor, Captain Phillips, Plush, and The Summit. Check out the full slate of posters below!
If you missed the new trailers yesterday, go ahead and check them out here.
With the news of the new title, Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction (formally Transformers 4) also teased us with a poster. It doesn’t give a whole lot away, but it does show us some sand and the release date (which we already knew): June 27, 2014. (Source: Yahoo)
Two alternative posters for Thor: The Dark World also released online. It took some digging to find these, but I’m glad I found at least the masquerade-looking one. Alan Taylor (HBO’s Game of Thrones) will be directing Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, and Natalie Portman, who make their return November 8th. (Source: IMP Awards)
Partially above (and in full below), I’ve attached four more posters to The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Starring and directed by Ben Stiller, Walter Mitty is ramping up for a December 25th release. It also stars Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) and Adam Scott (Step Brothers). Check out all four posters below, as well as last week’s batch. (Source: Yahoo)
A new quad (/Inception-like) poster for Prisoners released, too. This movie is one of the bigger releases this month (it’s actually a smaller month in movies if you look at it), and we can see Denis Villeneuve’s (Incendies) next film September 20th. It stars Hugh Jackman (who is already getting lots of compliments) and Jake Gyllenhaal (Source Code). (Source: TotalFilm)
Ridley Scott’s follow-up to Prometheus, titled The Counselor, highlighted its great cast in the newest poster. With names like Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender (Prometheus), Javier Bardem (Skyfall), Penelope Cruz (Vanilla Sky), and Cameron Diaz (Vanilla Sky), I don’t blame them for producing a poster like this. The drama releases October 25th. (Source: IndieWire)
Tom Hanks’ face has been added to an older poster to show a “new” one for Captain Phillips. If you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them both. Paul Greengrass’ (The Bourne Ultimatum) newest film will release soon (October 11th). (Source: IMP Awards)
Catherine Hardwicke’s (Twilight) Plush, which releases September 13th, unveiled a last poster yesterday. Emily Browning (Sucker Punch) and Xavier Samuel (The Twilight Sage: Eclipse) star in the film about a struggling singer (Browning) in a band (named “Plush”) that falls for a replacement guitarist (Samuel). Check it out above. (Source: MTV)
I usually don’t get around to doing posters about documentaries, but I thought I’d attach one from The Summit. Nick Ryan directed the documentary about the heartbreaking K2 tragedy in 2008 that claimed the lives of eleven climbers. I’m excited for the movie – as weird as that sounds – but it doesn’t have a U.S. release date yet. It will play in Sweden November 1st, though. (Source: Movies.com)
Thanks for stopping by. Like always, tomorrow will feature the newest photos.
