Clip Mania: Don Jon, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, and More
Happy Friday folks. Whether you’re looking ahead to movies in the future or trying to figure out what to see this weekend, I’ve enclosed clips for all types of movies. For this weekend’s movies, you can see two clips for Thanks For Sharing and one for Generation Iron. For future movies, check out the two newest for Don Jon, and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, and/or each clip for Oldboy, Machete Kills, and Nebraska.
As always, enjoy your weekend…
With just a week until Don Jon debuts nationwide, they did us a favor by releasing two new clips. They star Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who is also directing his first movie) and Scarlett Johansson. It’s a romantic comedy about a Jersey Shore-like meathead (Gordon-Levitt) that falls for a girl (Johansson). Like I mentioned earlier, it releases September 27th.
I didn’t think we could see anymore footage from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. Turns out I was wrong. The two clips – titled “Chester V” and “Singing with Pickles” – also release before its debut on September 27th. I’ve admittedly never seen the first one, but I think the food concept is very funny and plan to see both (in order of course). Cloudy 2 is directed by Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn.
An interesting clip surfaced for Oldboy, Spike Lee’s (Inside Man) thriller remake starring Josh Brolin (Men in Black III), Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene), and Sharlto Copley (Elysium). For those unfamiliar, Oldboy follows an ad executive put in solitary confinement for twenty years before being released. His mission becomes finding the person (or persons) responsible. As for the clip, it shows Samuel L. Jackson, who is also in the picture (and sporting quite the hairdo). The movie releases November 27th.
Action exploitation films are pretty rare. Action exploitation sequels are even rarer. Enter Machete Kills, the sequel to 2010’s Machete. Again directed by Robert Rodriguez and starring Danny Trejo, the film releases October 11th. If weapons and cleavage are your thing, check out the clip.
Moving to a more serious movie, I wanted to fit in Alexander Payne’s (The Descendants) Nebraska. Payne should be a household name, but I’m still waiting for him to get his recognition. Perhaps it could happen this year with Nebraska. Initial reviews are positive with a majority of critics responding well to star Bruce Dern (Coming Home) in the story of a father and son traveling to Nebraska to claim some money. The movie adjusted its release date and will now open November 15th.
Moving to this weekend’s movies, I’ve embedded two clips for Stuart Blumberg’s sex addiction comedy Thanks For Sharing. Yes, you heard that that right, sex addiction comedy. The best part, though, is the cast, because Gwyneth Paltrow (Iron Man 3), Mark Ruffalo (The Avengers), and Tim Robbins (The Shawshank Redemption) all star in the film. If you’re on the fence about seeing the movie, at least check out the clips.
I don’t often find clips for documentaries, but I guess this week is just unique! A bodybuilding documentary by the name of Generation Iron could be interesting because it follows some of the top contenders for the Mr. Olympia competition. If that doesn’t sound interesting, does “narrated by Mickey Rourke” sound better? The movie releases starting today and Vlad Yudin (Last Day of Summer) is the director.
That does it for another edition of Clip Mania. Enjoy the rest of your Friday.
