Photo Mania: Captain Phillips, Cinderella, Fast & Furious 7, and More
Although the trailers and posters from this week may have seem underwhelming, it’s been a busy week for new photos. Below you can find all 71 pictures spread out over seven different movies. Those seven movies are Captain Phillips, Cinderella, Fast & Furious 7, Machete Kills, Fury, Romeo and Juliet, and Dom Hemingway. Be sure to stick around for the full galleries.
Sony Pictures released a whole bunch of photos for Paul Greengrass’ (The Bourne Ultimatum) Captain Phillips. The real life pirate hijack movie, starring Tom Hanks, releases October 11th. As the pictures show, it’s the tense story of the 2009 incident just outside Somalia. The entire gallery is available below.
A first look at Lily James (Wrath of the Titans) as the title character in Kenneth Branagh’s (Thor) live-action Cinderella is now available for your viewing pleasure. There’s still no sign of Richard Madden (HBO’s Game of Thrones) or Cate Blanchett (The Lord of the Rings trilogy), but filming just started the other day, so we should probably be patient. We’ll have to be even more patient when waiting for the final product because it won’t release until March 13, 2015. (Source: The Huffington Post)
Just like last week, Vin Diesel has released another Fast & Furious 7 picture via his popular Facebook. Again, it doesn’t give a whole lot away. We do know, though, that the seventh adaptation will finally surpass Tokyo Drift in chronology, which is significant for a certain character (which I won’t spoil). Diesel, Paul Walker, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson all return, but number 7 will be directed by James Wan (The Conjuring). Expect to see the movie starting July 11, 2014.
Ten new photos for Machete Kills released online this week alongside a new trailer. The entire gallery is below for those interested. Like Captain Phillips, Kills will release October 11th, but it is a much different film. The action exploitation film follows its predecessor, Machete, and returns director Robert Rodriguez and star Danny Trejo. (Source: Collider)
David Ayer (End of Watch) also took to social media to debut the first photo for his next movie. Titled Fury, the war drama sees Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Michael Pena (End of Watch), and more during World War II. Not a whole lot is known at this time, but fans of these guys’ work can circle November 14, 2014 on their calendars to see the movie. (Source: Twitter)
A boatload (which apparently equals 30) of new images for Carlo Carlei’s adaptation of Romeo and Juliet landed online. The umpteenth adaptation of William Shakespeare’s wildly popular tragedy stars names like Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit), Damian Lewis (Showtime’s Homeland), and Paul Giamatti (The Illusionist). It’ll release alongside some other pics on this list when it opens in limited release October 11th.
Finally, I wanted to share ten new photos for Dom Hemingway. Richard Shepard’s (I Knew It Was You) black comedy has a great cast – including Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes), Demian Bichir (A Better Life), and Emilia Clarke (HBO’s Game of Thrones) – and a promising premise – a recently released inmate looking to get his dues paid back. Hemingway played at the Toronto International Film Festival and will wait until April 4, 2014 to release in theaters. Check out all the photos below. (Source: IndieWire)
That does it for this week. Enjoy the rest of hump day!
