Clip Mania: Escape Plan, Don Jon, Machete Kills, and More
In this Friday’s version of Clip Mania, I’ll again highlight two films releasing this weekend. All the others are on the horizon with releases in October. In all, you can find clips for Escape Plan, Don Jon, Machete Kills, The Counselor, Baggage Claim, and Runner, Runner below.
Check out the latest trailers, posters, photos, and news updates, too.
Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger are teaming up for the action film Escape Plan. However, before they can team up, they’ve got to fight, right? Check out the clip for a scene involving that scenario. The movie is directed by Mikael Hafstrom (The Rite) and is set to release October 18th.
The first of this weekend’s movies to be featured is Don Jon. I’ve been updating the site a lot with new Don Jon-related stuff, and this appears to be the final mention. You can check out the clip above (and all of our coverage here). The movie features Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who also directed it) and Scarlett Johansson. Again, it’s available today so go see it!
Back to the October releases, I attached another clip for Robert Rodriguez’s sequel Machete Kills. The movie adds Charlie Sheen (FX’s Anger Management) to returning star Danny Trejo. As for others involved, it impressively features Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Zoe Saldana, and even Lady Gaga. The movie will release October 11th.
A clip titled “Rattling the Cage” continued the barrage of The Counselor clips. Ridley Scott’s (Prometheus) next film (set to release October 25th) is one of my most anticipated movies (really, all of October seems stacked). The Counselor has a very impressive cast – which includes Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class), Javier Bardem (Skyfall), Cameron Diaz (Vanilla Sky), and Penelope Cruz (Vanilla Sky) – and a promising premise. Check out the clip before it releases in just about a month!
Although I’m not excited for this weekend’s movie Baggage Claim, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be. The romantic comedy stars Paula Patton (Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol), Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond), and Taye Diggs (ABC’s Private Practice). Based on David E. Talbert’s novel of the same name, he aptly serves as writer and director in the film…so that’s a good sign. The movie started playing last night in some theaters and opens wide everywhere else today.
The final movie returns us to October with Runner, Runner. Set to release next weekend (on October 4th), Runner, Runner is Brad Furman’s (The Lincoln Lawyer) next project. It stars Ben Affleck, Justin Timberlake, Gamma Arterton (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters), and Anthony Mackie (Pain & Gain), so that is promising. The above clip is titled “Crocodiles,” if you’re interested in the crime thriller.
Have a great end of September as we usher in fall next week (if you haven’t already).
