Trailer Round-Up: The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Frozen, and More
Welcome to the week! Scroll down to find the latest trailers from last Monday to this one. Below you’ll find a teaser for The Avengers: Age of Ultron and full-length trailers for Frozen, Need for Speed, Free Birds, Dom Hemingway, The Motel Life, and Country Cottage.
Have fun…
It’s long overdue, but the Comic-Con trailer for The Avengers: Age of Ultron finally made its way online. The big reveal was the title when it was shown by Joss Whedon in a surprise Hall H announcement in July. However, closer looks can give away some minor (very minor) details about the juggernaut. Age of Ultron will bring back the big guns (Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, and Chris Hemsworth) and more with James Spader (Lincoln) playing Ultron himself. Whedon will again direct the movie and it doesn’t come out until May 1, 2015.
The first full-length trailer for Frozen released, too. Frozen had first released a teaser (speaking of teasers), so it’s nice seeing some actual footage. Since it already releases November 27th (of this year), I’m surprised it took this long. Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee direct Disney’s animated film that voice stars Kristen Bell (Forgetting Sarah Marshall).
The first trailer for the video game-turned-movie Need for Speed crashed the interwebs last week. It stars Aaron Paul (AMC’s Breaking Bad) and Imogen Poots (Fright Night) and is directed by Scott Waugh (Act of Valor). The racing action movie doesn’t hit theaters until March 14, 2014, so continue to play the popular games before then! Oh and watch the trailer of course.
Going back to the animated front, Free Birds released its second trailer. Also coming out in November (November 1st to be exact), Free Birds will provide a little bit of competition for Frozen when it releases. Also, it’ll take advantage of Thanksgiving by having a Thanksgiving-rich plot that sees a pair of turkeys (voiced by Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson) trying to travel back in time to save turkeys from being a Thanksgiving tradition. Amy Poehler (NBC’s Parks and Recreation) is also in the movie and it’s directed by Jimmy Hayward (Jonah Hex).
Richard Shepard’s (I Knew It Was You) black comedy Dom Hemingway has been on a tear recently. To add to it, they unveiled a trailer for the upcoming movie. The plot centers around an eccentric safecracker (Jude Law) that goes to collect his dues after 12 years in prison. Others involved in the project are Emilia Clarke (HBO’s Game of Thrones) and Demian Bichir (A Better Life). It already played at the Toronto International Film Festival and will release in the U.S. on April 4, 2014.
Alan and Gabe Polsky’s The Motel Life, set to release November 8th, released a trailer for people unaware of the movie (like myself). The Motel Life is based on a novel (of the same name) and seems like a heavy film about two brothers that runaway to a Reno hotel after they flee the scene of a hit-and-run. The film adaptation stars Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild), Stephen Dorff (Immortals), and Dakota Fanning (Man on Fire). Watch the trailer if you get a chance.
Sometimes you just have to laugh when you read the synopsis for a movie…even if it shouldn’t be funny. How does this sound: a man just wants to propose to his girlfriend, but everything goes wrong when his brother and girlfriend show up and things go wrong when he accidentally kills his brother with an ax. It shouldn’t be funny, but Country Cottage has this synopsis and is considered an action crime comedy…which you don’t see everyday. Check out the trailer for the movie above. It most notably stars Malin Akerman (Watchmen), is directed by Peter Wellington (Joe’s So Mean to Josephine), and still doesn’t have a U.S. release date.
