Poster Mania: American Hustle, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and More
After a week, we’re back again! For the newest posters, you can scroll down and check them out. It’s a Christian Bale-heavy week with two separate posters featuring him (American Hustle and Out of the Furnace). There’s also three more banners for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, two posters for Rio 2, and a new Ender’s Game, Thor: The Dark World, and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit poster.
If you missed the trailer post yesterday, click over there here.
Five character posters for American Hustle probably made the most waves this week. David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook) has cranked out good movie after good movie, and the trailer for American Hustle has me very excited. With a cast like Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker), and Amy Adams (The Master), how can you not be excited? The 70’s-tinted posters are below and the movie hits theaters December 13th in limited theaters and nationwide December 25th. (Source: IndieWire)
Last week I attached two banners for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Turns out there are three more and you can see them above. The second (of three) Hobbit movies is again directed by Peter Jackson and returns Martin Freeman, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, and Ian McKellen. As you can tell by the banners, Orlando Bloom will also appear in the latest movie that releases December 13. (Source: IMP Awards)
An IMAX poster for Ender’s Game found its way online, too. In less than a month (November 1st), we’ll finally get to see an adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s popular novel. Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) directs Asa Butterfield (Hugo), Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, and Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit). (Source: Comingsoon)
Ender’s Game will likely only rule the box office for one short week before Thor: The Dark World releases November 8th. Alan Taylor (HBO’s Game of Thrones) is the director with Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman returning for the superhero sequel. The poster itself shows Ray Stevenson (HBO’s Rome) who returns as Volstagg. (Source: Twitter)
The first two posters for Rio 2 lighten up the mood a bit. The sequel won’t release until April 11, 2014 and released a trailer last week. The posters juxtapose a few different characters, although I’m not all that familiar with the Rio universe. Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway are the biggest names to return, although there are a substantial number of returnees. (Source: Yahoo)
Similar to Rio 2, the first trailer for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit went online last week. They also released a poster via Yahoo that’s available above. As you can see, Chris Pine (Star Trek Into Darkness) will take over as Jack Ryan. Shadow Recruit is technically the fifth Jack Ryan film and it’ll release December 25th. Kenneth Branagh (Thor) is the latest to direct. (Source: Yahoo)
The final poster belongs to Out of the Furnace. It’s the second film this week starring Christian Bale, and the drama also stars Casey Affleck (Gone Baby Gone) and Woody Harrelson (The Hunger Games). Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) is the director and we’ll see the movie starting November 27th (then in more theaters December 6th). (Source: Collider)
I’ll be back next week for the next batch of posters. Check back tomorrow for the latest photos!
