Trailer Round-Up: X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and More
Happy Monday! Looking ahead at upcoming movies, I’ll have the first trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past and the final trailer for this month’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. I’ll also include the latest trailers for The Wolf of Wall Street, The LEGO Movie, Planes: Fire and Rescue, A Madea Christmas, and Labor Day.
Enjoy!
At this year’s Comic-Con, I was most impressed by the X-Men: Days of Future Past panel. Not only did it have the greatest talent line-up of all the panels, but I was thoroughly impressed with the footage they showed. It took a long time, but the first trailer finally released this week and it was no disappointment. 2014 is a big year for movies, but I am most excited to see Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, and everyone else return to Bryan Singer’s film on May 23, 2014.
Speaking of Jennifer Lawrence, she can be seen in the final trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. It’s not the longest trailer, but it’s just enough to give people one last push of excitement. Catching Fire turns to Francis Lawrence (Water for Elephants) as director with Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, and Woody Harrelson among the returners. We can see the Quarter Quell starting November 22nd.
With all the upcoming releases, it’s easy to forget Martin Scorsese (Hugo) is releasing a new movie this year. It’ll star Leonardo DiCaprio, Matthew McConaughey, Jonah Hill, and Jean Dujardin (The Artist). The second trailer (and probably the last) came out last week and is worth a view. The movie will come out December 25th alongside a bunch of other movies. I’d suggest seeing it if you want to be caught up with Oscar movies come next February.
The second trailer also released for The LEGO Movie. It’s a much different project than, say, The Wolf of Wall Street, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth checking out. Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s passion project has a wide array of voice stars, including Chris Pratt (NBC’s Parks and Recreation), Will Arnett, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Will Ferrell, and Jonah Hill. The movie is set to release on February 7th.
In case you really liked Planes (I didn’t see it), there’s a trailer for the sequel that releases July 18, 2014. Titled Planes: Fire & Rescue, it’ll return Dane Cook as the (voice of the) main character, but the movie will focus on Dusty (Cook) becoming a rescue plane rather than a racer. Bobs Gannaway (Secret of the Wings) will direct the movie.
Tyler Perry’s latest movie, A Madea Christmas, is also a Christmastime movie. It’ll come out on December 13th with Perry, Larry the Cable Guy, Chad Michael Murray, and more starring in the comedy. Perry’s 17th feature film is also based on a play he wrote, but that doesn’t exactly make me excited to watch it. Maybe you’re different, in which case I’d check out the newest trailer above.
Jason Reitman’s (Juno) Labor Day is an under-the-radar movie that could make waves when it finally releases. I’m not excited that it is coming out in limited theaters on December 25th because it’ll be hard for me to actually find a showing. However, I am excited about the premise and the names involved. Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin headline the drama and a new trailer can now be seen.
