Photo Mania: Thor: The Dark World, X-Men: Days of Future Past, RoboCop, and More
In this week’s rendition of Photo Mania, you can expect a wide variety of films ranging from superhero movies (Thor: The Dark World and X-Men: Days of Future Past) to a somewhat-unknown drama (Unbroken). In between, you’ll find new galleries of photos for RoboCop, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, and Ride Along. Also, the first look at Kill the Messenger can be seen below.
With the release of Thor: The Dark World this Friday, November 8th, Marvel made one last push with some new photos. I’ve attached nine below that most notably show off Chris Hemsworth (playing Thor) and Tom Hiddleston (playing Loki). The latest Marvel endeavor looks to turn the tide with Thor and Loki apparently teaming up. If that doesn’t sound exciting then you obviously aren’t the same nerd that I am. Alan Taylor (HBO’s Game of Thrones) took care of the directing duties in this particular movie. (Source: Yahoo)
Since X-Men: Days of Future Past recently released a trailer, I found some high-quality screen grabs that show a stiller picture of the action. I picked the eight most interesting photos and posted them all below for Bryan Singer’s return to the X-Men franchise. Days of Future Past will feature about every actor in the franchise up to this point (Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, and etc.) while adding Peter Dinklage (HBO’s Game of Thrones), who is featured below. Unfortunately, the movie still doesn’t release until May 23, 2014. (Source: Empire)
Another 2014 movie poised for a big opening is RoboCop and they’ve finally released a few more looks at the action remake. Starring Joel Kinnaman (AMC’s The Killing), Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, and Samuel L. Jackson, the movie seems good on paper. The pictures look pretty cool as well, and we’ll find out if Jose Padilha’s (Bus 174) movie is any good on February 12, 2014. (Source: Comingsoon)
Kenneth Branagh’s (Thor) Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit was recently pushed back to January 17, 2014, but that didn’t stop it from releasing new photos. Five of them can be seen below. As you can tell, Chris Pine (Star Trek Into Darkness) and Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean) are the biggest draws for the action-thriller. (Source: IndieWire)
The first two photos for the Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker)-starring film Kill the Messenger surfaced this week, too. Directed by Michael Cuesta (Showtime’s Dexter), the movie also stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) and Rosemarie DeWitt (Rachel Getting Married). For those like me that don’t know, Kill the Messenger is about a reporter that has his life turned upside down after exposing the CIA. It’ll release sometime next year. (Source: USA Today)
A gallery of seven photos can also be seen for Ride Along below. Tim Story’s (Think Like a Man) buddy comedy is about a security guard (Kevin Hart) that goes on a ride-along with a police officer (Ice Cube) to prove he is a worthy brother-in-law. The movie will release January 17, 2014. (Source: Comingsoon)
Three behind-the-scenes photos popped up for Angelina Jolie’s next directorial project Unbroken. It’s based on the life of Louis Zamperini – the heroic W.W.I.I. P.O.W. that went on to become an Olympic athlete. The movie will star Jack O’Connell (Harry Brown) and Garrett Hedlund (Troy) and should hit theaters December 25, 2014. (Source: Collider)
