Photo Mania: The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Transformers: Age of Extinction, and More
Welcome to Photo Day here at Film Equals. In this week’s edition, I will have the newest for sequels like The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and Transformers: Age of Extinction. I’ll also include some from the up-and-comers this award season (including two that just took home early round awards) like American Hustle and Inside Llewyn Davis. I also have new ones from next year’s movies that include Reasonable Doubt and the action duo The Legend of Hercules and Pompeii.
All of the photos are below. Be sure to check out the full galleries when applicable.
For those that can’t wait until December 13th when The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug comes out, you can check out a full gallery of new photos below. Returning Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, and more, the movie also welcomes Orlando Bloom (playing Legolas) back to Middle Earth. It’ll again be directed by Peter Jackson and I’m personally counting down the days until it releases. (Source: ComingSoon)
Four new photos (below in the gallery) can be seen for next year’s Transformers sequel. Transformers: Age of Extinction is the complete title and Michael Bay will return as director (despite his early insistence he was done blowing up cars, buildings, and everything in sight). This time around, we won’t see the normal suitors, as Mark Wahlberg, Kelsey Grammer, and Stanley Tucci (The Hunger Games) join the reboot (I believe that is how it’s being marketed). Anyway, the movie won’t come out until June 27, 2014, so we should expect the first footage in the coming month or two. (Source: Yahoo)
David O. Russell’s (Silver Linings Playbook) upcoming period drama American Hustle has slowly been releasing more and more before it hits limited theaters December 13 and wider audiences December 18th. Since it nabbed Best Film at the New York Film Critics Circle, I’d say it’s a pretty safe bet the film makes a big Academy Awards push. With a cast that includes Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams, and the red-hot Jennifer Lawrence, could you expect anything different? The five newest photos are below to prep you. (Source: Collider)
The Coen Brothers’ (True Grit) Inside Llewyn Davis also made a splash by taking home honors at the Gotham Awards. Oscar Issac (For Greater Glory), Carey Mulligan (The Great Gatsby), and Justin Timberlake are all featured in the musically-themed drama that comes out this weekend (on December 6th). Check out the full gallery below. (Source: IndieWire)
Completing the trifecta for this week is The Legend of Hercules (check out the trailer and poster to catch it all). Starring Kellan Lutz (The Twilight Saga) as Hercules, Renny Harlin’s (Deep Blue Sea) action film releases on January 10, 2014. (Source: Yahoo)
Paul W.S. Anderson’s (Resident Evil: Retribution) action-adventure film Pompeii also released new photos. It gives us a good look at star Kiefer Sutherland (FOX’s 24) and Kit Harington (HBO’s Game of Thrones) who will both be on-screen February 21, 2014 when the movie releases. Check out the three photos above. (Source: USA Today)
Last, but not least, I’ve attached four photos (below) for Reasonable Doubt. The crime-thriller, directed by Peter Howitt (Antitrust), won’t hit theaters until sometime next year (it has no official date). Samuel L. Jackson is the biggest name in the film, but Dominic Cooper (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Slayer) also appears. Enjoy! (Source: Collider)
