Poster Mania: The Amazing Spider-Man 2, The Wolf of Wall Street, and More
Another week, another Poster Mania. In this week’s rendition, I’ve attached banners for next year’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and The LEGO Movie while adding more traditional posters for The Wolf of Wall Street, Nymphomaniac (if you can call those posters “traditional”), Reasonable Doubt, Life of a King, and 50 to 1.
For yesterday’s new trailers, follow the link.
Before yesterday’s trailer came a new banner for Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The banner primarily shows Spidey (played by Andrew Garfield) but it does give us a look at our villain (Jamie Foxx). The movie releases on May 2, 2014. (Source: Collider)
Martin Scorsese’s (Hugo) The Wolf of Wall Street showed off another poster that made me chuckle. The tone, based on what I’ve seen from the trailers, seems pretty awesome for the drama about Jordan Belfort’s memoir. This continues with the poster that shows stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, and a random shoe. Check out the poster above before its release on December 25th. (Source: IndieWire)
A banner also came online for The LEGO Movie. This movie won’t release until February 7, 2014 with plenty of great voice stars (Chris Pratt, Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Morgan Freeman, Will Ferell, Liam Neeson, and more). The stop-motion animated comedy is directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street). (Source: Moviehole)
Two minimalist-like posters came online for Lars von Trier’s (Melancholia) two-part sex addiction drama Nymphomaniac. The film is being broken up with release dates on March 21, 2014 and April 18, 2014. It stars Charlotte Gainsbourg (Melancholia), Shia LaBeouf, and Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man), but none of them are in the two posters above. (Source: Collider)
The Samuel L. Jackson-starring crime thriller Reasonable Doubt sent out a new poster last week, too (check it out above). Directed by Peter Howitt (Johnny English), the film also stars Dominic Cooper (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Slayer) and Erin Karpluk (Assault on Wall Street) with a release date set for January 17, 2014.
If you haven’t heard of Jake Goldberger’s (Don McKay) Life of a King, I’ve got a poster for you! As you can see above, Cuba Gooding, Jr. (Pearl Harbor) stars in the movie. Dennis Haysbert (FOX’s 24) also appears in the movie about an ex-con that sets up a chess club in D.C. The movie has a Video On Demand release date of January 17, 2014. (Source: IndieWire)
Finally, take a glance at 50 to 1 – the inspirational true story of a longshot racehorse in the Kentucky Derby. Without knowing a whole lot more, I can already tell it’s a great fit for Hollywood. 50 to 1 stars Skeet Ulrich (As Good As It Gets) and Christian Kane (Just Married) and is directed by Jim Wilson (Whirlygirl). Right now, it is tentatively set to release on March 21, 2014 in limited theaters.
