Clip Mania: Divergent, The Wolf of Wall Street, and More
Happy Friday and happy long weekend for a ton of you. With Christmas coming early next week, that probably means some extra time off. While people will probably be scrambling for last minute shopping and planning, some of you may have time to catch some movies. In this week’s Clip Mania, I have a clip for the new films Walking with Dinosaurs, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Grudge Match, and 47 Ronin. For next year’s movies, the first clip for Divergent released along with a new one for Cavemen.
Check them all out below! If you missed it, check out this week’s trailers, posters, photos, and news breaks.
The biggest splash came this week with the debut of the first clip for Divergent. As the first big release in 2014 (set for March 21st), the Neil Burger-directed movie is gaining steam. The plan is to catch up with Veronica Roth’s book before I see the movie, and you should probably do the same! The movie stars Shailene Woodley (The Descendants). Check out the first look above.
Arguably the biggest release yet to come this year is The Wolf of Wall Street starring Jonah Hill and Leonardo DiCaprio. The comedy-drama is directed by none other than Martin Scorsese (Hugo) and his latest movie (set at three hours long) releases December 25th. The latest (and probably final) clip can be seen above.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is one of Wall Street’s biggest competitions as it also releases December 25th. This one has a lighter tone (from the looks of it) but could still be a good movie. For those that didn’t know, it’s directed and stars Ben Stiller. Check out the latest clip (which is set to a Queen song).
Also releasing Christmas Day is Grudge Match (which also released two clips). The boxing pic, directed by Peter Segal (Get Smart), stars boxing vets Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro. The big difference is the genre, though, as Grudge Match looks much more like a comedy than anything else. The clips are available above to check out!
Four new clips released for 47 Ronin – the final Christmas Day release – as well. While I’m not as excited for this movie as the others, I think there are a few things going for it. For one, it’s a fantasy action film, which usually has a great contingent of followers. Secondly, it stars Keanu Reeves (The Matrix). Whether you want to see it or not, Carl Erik Rinsch’s film releases soon.
The lone wide release that waited until today to release (Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues got a head start on Wednesday) was Walking with Dinosaurs. In preparation, I attached the latest clip. The film voice stars Karl Urban (Dredd) and is directed by Neil Nightingale and Barry Cook (Arthur Christmas). Check the clip or movie out today!
Back to 2014, the final clip is for the comedy Cavemen. I’d never heard of this movie before today, but now I know it stars Chad Michael Murray (Fruitvale Station) and releases February 7, 2014. Herschel Faber directed the comedy, and the first clip is above.
Thanks for stopping in and happy holidays!
