Clip Mania: Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, The Legend of Hercules, and More
Happy Friday and welcome back to Clip Mania. After a short break for the holidays, I’m back to provide the latest clips. Below you can find clips for 7 movies – Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (5), The Legend of Hercules (4), The Grand Budapest Hotel (2), Ride Along (1), Kite (3), Devil’s Due (1), and The Nut Job (1) – and you can scroll for a little more information on each project.
To catch up on the week, make sure to check out the trailers, posters, photos, and news releases. Have a great weekend!
One of this month’s most anticipated releases (at least for me) is Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. Since January movies are (sometimes unfairly) considered “bad” movies, it’s nice to see a franchise movie with Chris Pine (Star Trek Into Darkness) releasing this month to give us something small to look forward to. The movie, set to release on January 17, is directed by Kenneth Branagh and released a bunch of clips recently. It all culminates with an extended 4+ minute clip, so be sure to watch them if it sounds interesting.
However, even before Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is this weekend’s The Legend of Hercules. Starting today, you can see Kellan Lutz (The Twilight Saga) as Hercules himself. The movie is directed by Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2). Be sure to watch the four clips if you are on the fence about the movie (like myself).
Wes Anderson’s (Moonrise Kingdom) newest dry comedy The Grand Budapest Hotel released two clips as well. The movie looks, if nothing else, interesting and I can’t wait to see it on March 7th. It stars a bunch of familiar actors, including Edward Norton, Ralph Fiennes, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, and Jude Law. Seriously, watch the two clips.
Back to January, Ride Along will challenge Jack Ryan next weekend when it releases on January 17th. However, the films seem very different (for good reason) as Ride Along is a comedy starring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube. You can check out a clip if you’re interested in Tim Story’s (Think Like a Man) comedy.
Three clips for Kite – a movie I hadn’t heard much about until today – also released online. The biggest draw for Kite will undoubtedly be star Samuel L. Jackson, but it’s also nice to see The Weinstein Company is involved in the distribution. Ralph Ziman directed the film, which is based on an anime of the same name, and we can expect to see the movie later this year (no firm date set yet). Until then, check out the clips.
Devil’s Due will be another movie that threatens both Jack Ryan and Ride Along on January 17th. Like the other two, it also published a new clip online. The found footage horror movie stars Zach Gilford (NBC’s Friday Night Lights) and is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. If you can brave it, watch the clip.
The final January 17th release with a new clip is The Nut Job. Like the others, it goes for a totally different demographic. The animated film (directed by Peter Lepeniotis) voice stars Will Arnett and Brendan Fraser (The Mummy). Again, check out the clip if the movie sounds interesting.
Talk to you next week!
