Clip Mania: RoboCop, I, Frankenstein, and More
Happy Friday everyone. Although Friday means a lot of different things, here at Film Equals it means I’ll be handing down the latest clips from the past week or so. In all, you can find a new clip for RoboCop, I, Frankenstein, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, and The Railway Man. Two clips are available for The Nut Job and Gimme Shelter. As always, scroll to see the clips.
Check out this week’s trailers, posters, photos, and news breaks if you get a chance, too.
One of the bigger releases the first quarter of the year is Jose Padilha’s (Bus 174) RoboCop. To get you amped, and to get a look into the RoboCop field test, a new clip released. The movie stars Joel Kinnaman (AMC’s The Killing), Gary Oldman, and Michael Keaton. It’ll hit theaters February 12th.
I, Frankenstein is another upcoming release with some anticipation behind it. I’m mixed about it up to this point, but I do really like stars Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight) and Yvonne Strahovski (NBC’s Chuck). A very short clip released for the movie and it doesn’t exactly play up the fantasy figure Frankenstein. Instead it shows Bill Nighy (Love Actually) and Strahovski. Stuart Beattie’s (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) latest film releases January 24th.
This week’s obligatory last-second clip release goes to Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. Releasing today, the film is directed by Kenneth Branagh (Thor) and stars Chris Pine. In the bigger picture, it’s a movie based on Tom Clancy’s character. It’ll be the fifth Jack Ryan-based movie, but this one will be an original idea (unlike the others). Check out the clip before you see the movie this weekend.
Mr. Peabody & Sherman, which is set to release on March 7th, also unveiled a clip. The clip is about one of the main characters, Mr. Peabody (Ty Burrell). The animated comedy is directed by Rob Minkoff (The Lion King).
The Nut Job becomes the second animated comedy with something new. Two clips released for the animated pic that voice stars Will Arnett, Brendan Fraser, and Liam Neeson. However, this movie will release much earlier as it is already available today. Peter Lepeniotis (Bolts & Blips) was in charge of direction.
Getting back to some more dramatic movies, I thought I’d highlight a new clip for The Railway Man. Jonathan Teplitzky’s film stars Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman, and Jeremy Irvine (War Horse). Unfortunately, it is still without a U.S. release date. Hopefully this clip ties you over.
Lastly, I attached the latest two clips for Ron Krauss’ Gimme Shelter. The independent film, starring Vanessa Hudgens (Spring Breakers), releases already next weekend on January 24th. By the looks of it, Hudgens has put in a transformative effort, making the pic inherently more interesting. If you want to know more about the film, I’d watch the two clips above.
Hope you enjoyed it. Have a great long weekend!
