Poster Mania: The Amazing Spider-Man 2, 300: Rise of an Empire, and More
Thanks for stopping in for this week’s Tuesday edition of Poster Mania. With seven different movies featured today compared to yesterday, today definitely is a new day for previews. Below you can find two new posters for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and 300: Rise of an Empire. Also, there are singular posters for Need for Speed, They Came Together, Wish I Was Here, Single Moms Club, and A Field in England.
Two new posters came online for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The film will return Andrew Garfield and add Jamie Foxx (as you can see from the posters). Marc Webb’s next superhero movie will be one of the first blockbusters when it comes out May 2nd. (Source: Collider)
Two posters also came out for the slightly-less-anticipated 300: Rise of an Empire. The sequel/”sidequel” to Zack Snyder’s 300 doesn’t return him as director (Noam Murro takes over the directing duties), but it does return Eva Green and Rodrigo Santoro. Sullivan Stapleton (Cinemax’s Strike Back) will be the protagonist when the movie comes out March 7th. Check him out above. (Source: First Showing)
A new quad poster for Need For Speed – which releases a week after Rise of an Empire on March 14th – became available, too. Aaron Paul (AMC’s Breaking Bad) and Imogen Poots (28 Weeks Later) are two of the stars in the racing movie that is based on a video game franchise. Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) directed the movie. Parody movies are very hit-and-miss. However, unlike spoof movies, they can sometimes be good. I’m hoping David Wain’s (Role Models) parody is one of the “hits,” and the inclusion of Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler has me hopeful. The new poster is pretty hilarious with a punny catchline and some sarcastic Deadline quotes. Check it out above! (Source: First Showing)
Zach Braff’s newest directorial effort will come in Wish I Was Here. His Kickstarter-funded project showed at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, which explains the timing of the poster above. Wish I Was Here also stars Kate Hudson (How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days) and Mandy Patinkin (Showtime’s Homeland). Although an official day hasn’t been set yet, the movie should release sometime in September of this year. (Source: Twitter)
In case you were wondering about Tyler Perry’s (A Madea Christmas) next movie, I’ve featured a new poster for Single Moms Club. Besides him, Nia Long (The Best Man) and Amy Smart (Crank) will appear alongside him in the comedy. Check out the poster before the movie hits theaters March 14th. (Source: EW)
The final poster is for Ben Wheatley’s (Kill List) A Field in England. The poster is important to report on because Martin Scorsese whole-heartedly endorses the movie as a “stunning cinematic experience.” The film, which is a historical thriller set during the English Civil War, stars Julian Barratt (Sweet). The film will be released theatrically and on VOD February 7, 2014. (Source: IndieWire)
