Trailer Round-Up: Maleficent, 300: Rise of an Empire, and More
Welcome to the new week. As we wrap up January and head into February already this weekend, I’ll be giving a short update on some movies to come (some as early as February and March). Check out the newest trailers for Maleficent, 300: Rise of an Empire, Berandal, Vampire Academy, Child of God, Blood Ties, and Better Living Through Chemistry below.
Check back tomorrow for the latest movie posters.
The second teaser for Maleficent headlines this week’s post. For those interested in Angelina Jolie’s take on the iconic villain, check out the teaser and circle May 30th on your calendar. Jolie is joined by Elle Fanning (Super 8) and Sharlto Copley (Elysium) in the live-action pic that is directed by Robert Stromberg.
The third trailer released for 300: Rise of an Empire, too. Unlike Maleficent, this one comes out a little earlier (on March 7th). Sullivan Stapleton (Cinemax’s Strike Back) takes over the lead role from Gerard Butler while Noam Murro takes over directing duties from Zack Snyder. Eva Green and Rodrigo Santoro, on the other hand, are reprising their roles from 300. Check them all out above.
For me, one of the biggest releases of the first quarter of the year belongs to Berandal (or The Raid 2). Gareth Evans returns with star Iko Uwais and you can see another look at the movie above before it releases March 28th in the U.S. It played at Sundance this past week, which explains why a new trailer dropped.
Mark Waters’ (The Spiderwick Chronicles) latest movie is the closest to release. When it hits theaters on February 7th, you’ll see the footage in the new trailer. For those that don’t know, the movie is based on Richelle Mead’s novel and stars Zoey Deutch (CW’s Ringer) and Lucy Fry (TeenNick’s Lightning Point).
James Franco’s latest directorial effort, Child of God, released a trailer as well. Franco also stars in the movie (as does Scott Haze and Tim Blake Nelson) that doesn’t have a theatrical release date quite yet. Feast your eyes on the trailer instead.
Guillaume Canet’s (Tell No One) Blood Ties looks to be an interesting film. Like the others, it released a new trailer this past week. Within you can see stars Clive Owen (Children of Men), Mila Kunis (Black Swan), and Zoe Saldana (Avatar). The crime drama will hit theaters starting March 21st.
To end on a lighter note, I also attached a trailer for Better Living Through Chemistry. David Posamentier and Geoff Moore directed the comedy-drama that stars Sam Rockwell (Seven Psychopaths), Olivia Wilde (In Time), and Michelle Monaghan (Source Code). It’ll also release soon on March 14th.
Thanks for stopping in!
