Trailer Round-Up: The Fault In Our Stars, Maleficent, and More
Today feels like it should be a holiday. As much as you may hate to admit the Super Bowl is a big deal, well, it is. I plan on running a post-Super Bowl piece about the latest trailers. However, to tide you over, I’ve attached the latest trailers from late last week and leading up to the big game. Enclosed you’ll find trailers for movies like The Fault In Our Stars, Maleficent, The LEGO Movie, A Million Ways to Die in the West, Enemy, Winter’s Tale, and The Zero Theorem.
Check them all out below!
Get out the tissues because the first trailer for The Fault In Our Stars released. The film-based-on-a-book stars Shailene Woodley as a terminally-ill cancer patient who falls in love with a likable guy (Ansel Elgort). I haven’t read the book, but knowing that logline and that it is considered very sad, I can make a few inferences. Josh Boone’s (Stuck in Love) movie comes out in full on June 6th.
Robert Stromberg’s Maleficent comes out a week earlier on May 30th. The film, which got another trailer last week, most notably stars Angelina Jolie. Overall, it’ll tell the untold live-action story of Sleepy Beauty’s iconic villain.
Coming soon is The LEGO Movie. Set to release next weekend on February 7th, the animated comedy has a lot of people talking because of the great cast. It includes bigger names like Will Ferrell and Morgan Freeman, while featuring up-and-comers like Chris Pratt and Channing Tatum (who plays Superman in this movie). The cast doesn’t stop there, and you’ll have to see and hear them next weekend for the full list. Check out the Superman-centric trailer that was recently released above.
After showing off a new picture last week, Seth MacFarlane’s (Ted) A Million Ways to Die in the West showed off its first trailer. The western-comedy stars MacFarlane, Charlize Theron, and Amanda Seyfried (In Time). Take a look at the trailer before it releases alongside Maleficent on May 30th.
If you’re a big fan of Jake Gyllenhaal, you may want to check out Denis Villeneuve’s (Prisoners) latest movie, Enemy. Gyllenhaal pulls double duty in the film as he has a dual role alongside Melanie Laurent (Inglourious Basterds). Enemy has debuted at a couple film festivals, but we’ll have to wait until March 14 to see it in theaters. Not to worry, though, as it looks like the “erotic thriller” will hit the Internet in less than a week.
Winter’s Tale released a new trailer this past weekend when I went to the theaters. Although I’m still split on my opinion of whether I want to see the film, I can’t deny it has some appeal. For one, it features both Colin Farrell (Seven Psychopaths) and Russell Crowe. For two, it’s directed by screenwriting great Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind). The jury will be out until it releases on February 14th.
Finally, I wanted to pass along the trailer for Terry Gilliam’s The Zero Theorem. I saw a small panel at Comic-Con (which I wasn’t thoroughly impressed with) for this film. If nothing else, it looks quirky and interesting. Since it stars Christoph Waltz, I’m more inclined to be interested in the movie. The sci-fi film still doesn’t have a release date, although I swear it was supposed to release back on Christmas Day in 2013. We’ll update you when we know.
Come back tomorrow for the newest posters.
