Poster Mania: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, How to Train Your Dragon 2, and More
Hopefully you all have recovered from the big Super Bowl weekend. Although trailers were a big thing leading up to and during the big game, there were also a few posters that made their way online. Below you’ll find them, including solo posters for How to Train Your Dragon 2, Noah, 22 Jump Street, Enemy, and Grand Piano. You’ll also find three posters for Captain America: The Winter Soldier and eight for A Million Ways to Die in the West.
Check out yesterday’s trailers, too!
The most notable film with new posters is Captain America: The Winter Soldier. With the Russo Brothers (You, Me, and Dupree) directing the film, it’s set to come out already April 4th. The posters show off returners Chris Evans and Samuel L. Jackson, while introducing Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) to the Captain America franchise. Only a couple months before we get to see it! A couple months later, on June 13th, you can see the next sequel on the list. How to Train Your Dragon 2, which returns director Dean DeBlois and most of the voice stars (like Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, and Craig Ferguson), released another poster. I’m not big into the franchise, so I can’t tell you a whole lot more at this point. (Source: Flicks and Bits)
Backtracking a bit, Darren Aronofsky’s (Black Swan) Noah released a photo ahead of its March 28th release. The biblical epic – as it’s described – stars Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, and Jennifer Connelly (Requiem for a Dream) and is on my most hyped list for this quarter for sure. The poster itself plays on the rain aspect of the story (yes, it’s a very big part). Check the poster out above. (Source: Yahoo)
Back to the sequels we go with the next poster. 22 Jump Street, starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, unveiled its first poster as well. The comedy sequel will again be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller when it releases June 13th (the same as How to Train Your Dragon 2). The film will pick up at the college level (rather than the high school scene in the first movie). Take a look at the poster above. (Source: Yahoo)
After a busy week last week, A Million Ways to Die in the West released a set of posters. One of them is a generic title poster, but the other seven show off the main characters and actors. Some of these include director Seth MacFarlane, Charlize Theron, Neil Patrick Harris, and Liam Neeson. The western comedy releases May 30th and you can check out the whole gallery below. Denis Villeneuve’s (Prisoners) next thriller, Enemy, also released a poster. The yellow poster doesn’t say a lot about the film, but does play up Jake Gyllenhaal’s involvement. Gyllenhaal has a dual role (which is sort of shown in the poster), and I’m particularly excited about seeing this movie come March 14th (or this Friday on the Internet). Check out the latest trailer if you’re interested. (Source: IndieWire)
The final poster, which happens to be yellow like the Enemy one, is for a movie called Grand Piano. If you are like me, you probably haven’t heard about this one. The Spanish thriller has quite the synopsis – it’s a movie about a concert pianist (Elijah Wood) that is threatened with his life if he messes up a note…all of which occurs after suffering crippling stage fright. John Cusack is also featured in Eugenio Mira’s film. It’ll release on March 7th in limited U.S. theaters. (Source: Collider)
