Poster Mania: Guardians of the Galaxy, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and More
Hey guys and gals and welcome to another fantastic edition of Poster Mania. Each Tuesday, I round up all the latest posters and narrow them down to the seven most pertinent. In this week’s post, I’ve got just one poster for each of the following: Guardians of the Galaxy (debut poster), Godzilla, Noah (a character poster), Locke, and Single Moms Club. I’ve also included a new banner for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and a special mosaic poster for The Raid 2: Berandal (also simply known as The Raid 2).
If you missed yesterday’s trailer post, check it out here.
The first (and best poster) of the week comes by the way of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The newest edition to the “Phase 2” plan by Marvel includes an impressive cast (Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, and more). The poster shows off the gang – also known as the “Guardians” – with a great slogan below. If you missed out on the first trailer for James Gunn’s (Thor: The Dark World) film, check it out here before the movie comes out on August 1st. You’re welcome for including the poster. (Source: THR)
Although it may not be considered a new poster per se, I did want to include the latest banner for Marc Webb’s Spider-Man sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The banner shows Spidey (played by Andrew Garfield again), but more importantly: it shows him hanging from the Oscorp building. Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) is one of the additions that should play a big factor into the movie. Jamie Foxx also joins the movie and it’ll come out May 2nd. (Source: Comingsoon)
Godzilla will release two short weeks after The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (officially on May 16th). Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Nowhere Boy), Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene), and Bryan Cranston headline the monster remake. Gareth Edwards (Monsters) is in charge of the movie, which up to this point (and including this poster) has looked very good. I am very excited for this one! (Source: Yahoo)
A new character poster for Noah – one which shows off Anthony Hopkins’ character Methuselah – released online as well. Although I haven’t seen any of the other character posters, I do know that Russell Crowe plays the title character with Emma Watson playing his adopted granddaughter. Darren Aronofsky’s (Black Swan) biblical epic has moved into controversial waters as of late, so we’ll see the sure-to-be-polarizing movie on March 28th. (Source: Huffington Post)
As Noah partially pointed out, March is finally going to be a month worth looking forward to in the movie industry. The Raid 2: Berandal is just another reason why. It’ll release on March 28th and be Gareth Evans’ second film in a planned trilogy. The first one (simply titled The Raid) was universally lauded for great action and martial arts. The second one returns Iko Uwais and show him climbing the ranks of the higher-ups he already outlasted in the first film. If you haven’t seen the first, be sure to check it out! For people waiting for the next movie, a cool mosaic poster of Uwais’ character came out this past week. (Source: /Film)
The Tom Hardy-starring Locke is among the contingent of films that released a poster with a trailer. His crime thriller, which is directed by Steven Knight (Hummingbird), releases April 25th. The poster itself isn’t much more than a way for them to laud the critical appeal of the movie…which every poster tries to do. Still, take a look above. (Source: IndieWire)
And to finish things off, I thought I’d quickly mention Tyler Perry’s next project, The Single Moms Club. Although the film doesn’t interest me at all, I figured it had to interest someone since people keep going to Tyler Perry’s movies. Besides Perry, the comedy-drama stars Nia Long (The Best Man) and Amy Smart (Road Trip), and should come out March 14th. Be sure to check out the poster above. (Source: Comingsoon)
