Photo Mania: Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and More
I could go a number of ways with this week’s Photo Mania. For one, there four movies based on Marvel franchises (Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier). They’re also all popular movies with a high degree of expectations (including 300: Rise of an Empire, Veronica Mars, and The Raid 2: Berandal). No matter which way you look at it, all seven movies in this week’s Photo Mania are non-original movies with a considerable amount of hype.
This star-studded collection is available below.
Along with the first trailer and poster, Guardians of the Galaxy unleashed a few images as well. One of them shows the “Guardians,” while another just shows their main star Star-Lord (Chris Pratt). The impressive cast also includes Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana (Avatar), and many more. James Gunn (Thor: The Dark World) directs the movie that is coming out August 1st. Even more photos released for another superhero movie – X-Men: Days of Future Past – that I thought I’d better include. Since Days of Future Past is one of my most anticipated movies of the year, I can’t get enough of this movie. Bryan Singer will try to bridge the continuity gap between the two different X-Men universes come May 23rd. This potentially historic film has everyone from Hugh Jackman to Patrick Stewart to Jennifer Lawrence returning. The full gallery is below. (Source: Hypable)
Marc Webb’s sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2 gets pushed (surprisingly) to number 3 on the list this week. It speaks volumes about the quality of this week’s photos when that happens. The newest picture plays on the Oscrop theme (set by yesterday’s banner) as it shows Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) as the Green Goblin. Andrew Garfield (as Spidey) is also in the picture, and the entire film returns Emma Stone and adds Jamie Foxx on May 2nd. (Source: The Wrap)
The fourth and final superhero movie is Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It is also the soonest to release (on April 4th). The Russo Brothers (You, Me, and Dupree) are directing Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie (Pain & Gain), and Sebastian Stan (ABC’s Once Upon a Time). I’ve attached the latest seven stills, which could be the last looks we get! (Source: Collider)
Even sooner than Captain America is the next sequel. 300: Rise of an Empire, which stars Sullivan Stapleton (Cinemax’s Strike Back) and returners Eva Green and Rodrigo Santoro, already comes out March 7th. Take a look at the latest photos for Noam Murro’s film below. (Source: Comingsoon)
Two new photos also came out for the March-releasing Veronica Mars movie. Reprising her role as the title character, Kristen Bell will star in the movie directed by TV show creator Rob Thomas. Veronica Mars also features Krysten Ritter (AMC’s Breaking Bad) and James Franco (as a cameo). Look at the latest pictures above before March 14th when the movie comes out. (Source: Collider)
To finish things off, take a look at eight photos for The Raid 2: Berandal. Gareth Evans’ sequel is also a March release (March 28th to be precise), so I’d get going on the first if you haven’t seen it yet. Iko Uwais will be returning to the martial arts sequel and, as you can tell from the pictures, it’ll probably be a bloody mess. Oddly enough, I can’t wait! (Source: Flicks and Bits)
