Poster Mania: Transformers: Age of Extinction, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and More
In this week’s edition of Poster Mania, we’ve got a split down the middle in terms of movie types. Three-and-a-half (this will make sense in a little bit) are blockbuster (or blockbuster-type) movies – like Transformers: Age of Extinction, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – while the other three, Sabotage, In the Blood, and Actress aren’t quite as well-known. These two movies are bridged by Seth MacFarlane’s A Million Ways to Die in the West (hence the “half”), which is a summer movie with a little bit of hype behind it.
Check out all the posters (including the spiffy motion posters for Spider-Man) below.
A new poster – one that gives us a little more than just a tease – came out for Transformers: Age of Extinction. It, as you can tell, features new star (to the franchise) Mark Wahlberg. Michael Bay’s fourth installment in the franchise is due out June 27th, so expect another trailer (besides the Super Bowl one) soon. (Source: Yahoo)
Just around the bend (exactly a month from now on April 4th) is the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe installment. This one, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, is directed by the Russo Brothers (You, Me, and Dupree). Its newest poster also features their leading man (in Chris Evans). (Source: Facebook)
It isn’t every week I find and share motion posters. It definitely isn’t something new to the Internet (or this site); however, it still isn’t something you see every day. Since they are for Marc Webb’s Spidey sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2, I thought it’d be best to include them. Both posters feature a flying Spider-Man (played again by Andrew Garfield). The movie, which releases on May 2nd already, also stars Jamie Foxx, Emma Stone, and Dane DeHaan (Chronicle). (Source: Empire)
Seth MacFarlane’s (Ted) A Million Ways to Die in the West joins the summer movies in terms of poster releases. Unlike the others, though, it shows off a bigger portion of the cast. As you can tell, the movie stars MacFarlane, Liam Neeson, Charlize Theron, and Amanda Seyfried (not pictured). The comedy comes out May 30th. (Source: Comingsoon)
David Ayer’s (End of Watch) action thriller Sabotage sort of has the look of a blockbuster as well. For one, it has the genre going for it. For two, it stars Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film, which also stars Sam Worthington (Avatar), will release on March 28th, though. Check out the latest “quad” poster above. (Source: IMP Awards)
John Stockwell’s (Dark Tide) In the Blood probably crosses into the “unknown” territory as it’s not quite a household name film. However, it does feature some recognizable names, like Danny Trejo (Machete) and Gina Carano (Haywire). The action thriller comes out April 4th alongside Captain America. (Source: Yahoo)
Sometimes I like to feature posters I simply think are “cool.” The final poster belongs to the documentary Actress and I think it fits this category. For those that don’t know, the film will be about Brandy Burre (playing herself), her relationship and acting struggles, and perhaps more. Robert Greene (Kati with an I) directed the film and it currently doesn’t have a more specific 2014 date. Check out the hand-painted poster above. (Source: IndieWire)
