Clip Mania: The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Divergent, and More
Welcome to the weekend everyone. On this week’s edition of Clip Mania, I’ll show off the top seven movies that showed off new clips from last friday to now. More specifically, you can find clip(s) for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Divergent, Noah, Chef, Jimi: All Is By My Side, and Joe.

Up to today (well, last night), I compiled the latest three clips for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Marc Webb will return as director with stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone (both featured above). Jamie Foxx will take on the villain role as he plays Electro. I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t a huge fan of the first Spidey reboot film, but this one looks to be a bitter better since it won’t be bogged down with the original part of the story.
Even before Spider-Man, though, comes the next Captain America film. I considered the first one pretty weak as well, but with the start of press screenings has come news that Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a pretty darn good film. We’ll see starting April 4th when it releases. Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the Russo Brothers (You, Me, and Dupree) taking over the directing duties. The newest clip is above.
Even before both those blockbusters comes the latest YA film adaptation. Based on the book of the same name by Veronica Roth (one of three books in a franchise), Lionsgate’s Divergent is right on the brink of coming out. With tracking numbers through the roof, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to think this is the next big YA franchise. We’ll see next weekend as the film, which stars Shailene Woodley and Kate Winslet, releases on March 21st. Check out the latest clip above.
A week after Divergent will be Darren Aronfosky’s long-overdue next movie. As one of my favorite working directors, I’ve been anxiously awaiting to see his next project after the brilliant Black Swan. Aronofsky will tackle Noah’s Ark in his biblical epic (aptly titled Noah) starting March 28th. Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, and Anthony Hopkins are among the stars, and you can check out a clip of the ark above. It’s cleverly titled “The Ark Knight Rises.”
In a rare move, a film without a trailer released a clip. Jon Favreau’s (Iron Man) smaller-scale comedy, Chef, showed off its first footage above. The film opened the SXSW festival on March 7th, so it’s only a matter of days before we get a theatrical trailer. This seems especially true since the film will come out May 9th. It stars Favreau, Robert Downey, Jr., and Dustin Hoffman.
Along with some stills from earlier this week, I thought I’d attach two clips for the Jimi Hendrix biopic Jimi: All Is By My Side. Jimi will be played by the very talented Andre 3000 (of Outkast), but it’ll also star Hayley Atwell (speaking of Captain America) and Imogen Poots (Need for Speed). Unfortunately, the clips will have to suffice because John Ridley’s (Cold Around the Heart) film doesn’t have a U.S. release date (yet).
To cap off Clip Mania, make sure to watch a clip for David Gordon Green’s (Pineapple Express) Joe. The movie stars Nicolas Cage and Tye Sheridan (Mud) with an April 11th release date.
