Trailer Round-Up: The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Godzilla, The Giver, and More
In the aftermath of one of the bigger movie weekends of the year (thank you Divergent), today’s Trailer Round-Up will highlight a bunch of hyped upcoming films. The list includes The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Godzilla, The Giver, Maleficent, The Maze Runner, Peanuts, and The Raid 2: Berandal.

The final trailer (yes, it feels like we’ve received about a million different versions) for Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 released online. As you might expect, the trailer has plenty of repeat footage, but it’s still worth checking out if you’re anticipating the sequel. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone return on May 2nd.
A new international trailer also released for Godzilla and it, too, shows off new footage. Gareth Edwards’ (Monsters) remake of the classic monster film comes out on May 16th – continuing the gauntlet of films in May. This one stars Aaron Johnson-Taylor (Nowhere Boy), Bryan Cranston, and Elizabeth Olsen (Oldboy).
The first of two major film adaptations of popular books on this week’s Trailer Round-Up is The Giver. The debut trailer for the film that stars Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep released in theaters this weekend with the timely release of Divergent. Although I haven’t read the book yet, I’ll find myself doing that between now and when Phillip Noyce’s (Salt) film releases on August 15th.
Robert Stromberg’s Maleficent quietly released more footage, too. Starring Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning (Super 8), and Sharlto Copley (Elysium), the film comes out on May 30th (like I said, May is a big month for movies). Check out the trailer above.
The second popular book-to-film adaptation of the week’s trailer is The Maze Runner. Like The Giver, its trailer is the premiere trailer. For those that don’t know anything about the film, it’ll star Dylan O’Brien (High Road) and Will Poulter (We’re the Millers) when it comes out September 19th. Wes Ball serves as director.
Peanuts – Steve Martino’s (Horton Hears a Who!) animated film based on the Peanuts comic strip – unveiled a noteworthy teaser this past week. Not a whole lot is known about the film yet (especially since it won’t release until November 6, 2015), but I do know that Bill Melendez will be credited due to archival footage. So, yeah, that’s pretty cool. If you’re interested in the project, make sure to watch the teaser.
Last, but certainly not least, is the final trailer (I presume) for Gareth Evans’ sequel titled The Raid 2: Berandal. It returns Iko Uwais and will follow the young cop as he tries to take down the higher-ups from the original storyline. If you haven’t seen the original, the trailer may be shocking. Either way, you should check out the trailer if you want to see some insane (that word isn’t used lightly here) martial arts. All of it is above.
Come on back tomorrow for the latest posters!
