Poster Mania: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and More
After a big Trailer Round-Up yesterday, today’s Poster Mania continues the trend! Big movies like Captain America: The Winter Soldier, X-Men Days: of Future Past, Godzilla, Dumb and Dumber To, Hercules: The Thracian Wars, and Planes: Fire & Rescue released new poster(s). The lone film featured below that you probably haven’t heard of is The Signal. However, you can check it out below!
In just a short couple weeks we’ll have the latest Captain America film. Officially titled Captain America: The Winter Soldier (and directed by the Russo Brothers), the film definitely has the look of a winner. Marvel has yet to fail (at least at the box office level), so I don’t expect that to start on April 4th. The two newest posters both have distinctive retro styles. Check them out above before you go see Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and Samuel L. Jackson. (Source: First Showing)
A Star Wars-like poster for X-Men: Days of Future Past (a.k.a. the other big superhero movie of the year) also released. However, unlike the Captain America ones, I’m not a big fan of the X-Men poster (viewable above). The most glaring “mistake” involves what looks like explosive flatulence from Professor X (played by Patrick Stewart). Although it’s unintentionally bad, I am hoping the film doesn’t suffer the same problem when it releases on May 23rd. Bryan Singer returns to direct the picture that’ll return stars Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Ian McKellen, and just about everyone else. (Soure: E!)
Another May release is Godzilla – which also just-so-happened to unveil two more posters. This monster movie remake stars Aaron Johnson-Taylor (Nowhere Boy), Elizabeth Olsen (Oldboy), and Bryan Cranston. However, none of them can be seen on the posters as they (smartly) make way for the actual monster. The film is directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters) and comes out on May 16th. (Source: Collider)
Exciting news came out of the Dumb and Dumber To camp as things continue to move forward for the hotly-anticipated sequel. There were plenty of reasons to believe a direct sequel wasn’t ever going to happen, but that’s not the case anymore! With Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back onboard, the first two teaser posters released! Check the teasers and dumb puns out above before the Farrelly Brothers release the film on November 14th. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson continued his social media presence by releasing the first posters for Hercules: The Thracian Wars yesterday. The poster primarily focuses on him (as the title character), and he’s looking notably different. Brett Ratner (X-Men: The Last Stand) directs the pic that also stars John Hurt (Harry Potter) and Ian McShane (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides). The movie is due out July 25th. A week earlier (on July 18th) than Hercules will come a much different film – Planes: Fire & Rescue. Stars Dane Cook, Julie Bowen (ABC’s Modern Family), and Ed Harris (Gone Baby Gone) will voice star in Bobs Gannaway’s animated pic. Check out the poster above! (Source: Fandango)
The final poster belongs to a film called The Signal. This one stars Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix) and Brenton Thwaites (Seven’s Home and Away). This relatively-unknown sci-fi film doesn’t release until June 13th and is directed by William Eubank (Love). Check out the intentionally pixelated poster above. (Source: First Showing)
