Trailer Round-Up: The Expendables 3, Sex Tape, Blended, and More
The first “big” film of the year came out this past weekend with Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This could partly explain why this week’s trailers aren’t for “big” movies (save one I suppose). However, you would think the release of a big movie would have studios clamoring for the chance to release a new trailer.
Either way, you can check out trailers for The Expendables 3, Sex Tape (two trailers for this one actually), Blended, Lucy, The Angriest Man in Brooklyn, The Drop, and Palo Alto. Enjoy them below.
Normally one teaser is enough for studios. Apparently that isn’t the case for the upcoming action film The Expendables 3. A second trailer – this one introducing the cast – released late last week. Patrick Hughes’ (Red Hill) actioner stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, and more when it comes out on August 15th.
Not one, but two trailers came out for Jake Kasdan’s (Bad Teacher) Sex Tape. The comedy stars Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel with a scheduled release date of July 25th. Personally, I’m not sure how good this film is going to be, but I will admit I love Segel’s work so he has me optimistic. If you want to judge for yourself, both a green-band and red-band trailer are above to watch.
Frank Cocaci’s (Here Comes the Boom) rom-com Blended also unleashed a new trailer. The second one (which is above) releases ahead of the May 23rd playdate. The movie reunites Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore where it’ll tell the story of blind daters that end up stuck at resort with each other after a terrible date.
When you think of superhero movies with Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman, you probably aren’t thinking Luc Besson’s (The Family) upcoming flick Lucy. However, Lucy does star both these names and has released its first trailer online. Although it is characterized by some as superhero movie and others as a superhuman (or supernatural) film, I still thought it was an interesting concept. Check the first trailer out above. The movie releases in theaters on August 8th in the U.S.
I hadn’t heard about Phil Alden Robinson’s (The Sum of all Fears) The Angriest Man in Brooklyn until this past week when a trailer hit the web. Brooklyn will star Robin Williams and Mila Kunis, and it should hit limited theaters already on May 23rd. As for story, it’ll tell the tale of a man who believes he only has 90 minutes left to live and must make amends with others. It is being characterized as a comedy-drama right now, but that logline doesn’t sound very comedic. Either way, check out the new trailer above.
Last week, I showed off some stills from the upcoming film The Drop. Now I’ve got the first trailer for you! It’ll star Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), and the late James Gandolfini. The crime-drama is set to come out on September 19th. It’s directed by Michael R. Roskam (Bullhead).
James Franco made some headlines this past week for something eerily similar to his latest film – Palo Alto. Based on his short story collection, Franco will star alongside Emma Roberts (We’re the Millers) in Gia Coppola’s directorial debut. The film, which is set to come out on May 16th, is about a group of rebellious college students. If you’d like to see the trailer, watch it above.
