Poster Mania: X-Men: Days of Future Past, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and More
Happy Tuesday everyone! Here at Film Equals, that means it is time for the latest movie posters. More specifically, I’ll have full galleries for X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Expendables 3 (including character posters). For individual posters, check out the newest for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Maleficent, Chef, Tracks, and Shaun the Sheep.
Enjoy all the posters below:
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I am excited for X-Men: Days of Future Past! You can imagine my excitement, then, when eight new posters released online. In the posters you can primarily see stars Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence, but Nicholas Hoult, James McAvoy, and Michael Fassbender are the among the others that be seen. Bryan Singer’s latest X-Men film hits theaters on May 23rd. (Source: IndieWire)
Although it doesn’t touch my anticipation level for X-Men: Days of Future Past, I am also excited to see what Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has to offer. A new ape-centric poster released online the past week for the movie that stars Andy Serkis (motion-capturing as Caeser), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty), and Keri Russell (FX’s The Americans). Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) will take over the franchise on July 11th. (Source: Collider)
In the quantity department, The Expendables 3 definitely takes the top prize. Not one, not two, but sixteen character posters released for the latest action film. The gallery even features one of the women characters (UFC fighter Ronda Rousey). I won’t go through the whole cast (viewable below), but I will tease the film with names like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Harrison Ford. Patrick Hughes’ (Red Hill) film comes out on August 15th.
Disney also sent over a banner poster for Maleficent. Robert Stromberg’s directorial debut stars Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning (Super 8), and Sharlto Copley (Elysium) when it comes out May 30th. The marketing so far has been, rightfully so, all about Jolie’s character and her massive wings, but this one gives us a little more diverse look at the movie.
Jon Favreau’s (Iron-Man) next project – one in which he stars alongside Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, and Sofia Vergara (ABC’s Modern Family) – debuted a new poster. Oddly enough, there still hasn’t been a theatrical release for the movie that is already set to release May 9th. Go ahead and take a gander at the poster up above. (Source: Flicks and Bits)
John Curran’s (Stone) next movie, Tracks, may not be a film everyone has heard of. However, it has some great up-and-coming actors like Adam Driver (HBO’s Girls) and Mia Wasikowska (Stoker) that make this one worth keeping on your radar. Based on Robyn Davidson’s novel, the movie is set to come out May 23rd as well. (Source: Yahoo)
To finish things off, I’ve also attached the first poster for the stop-motion film Shaun the Sheep. Being produced by Aardman Animations (creators of Chicken Run), the style will definitely appeal to a certain audience. Shaun the Sheep (the TV series) was actually a spinoff of Wallace and Gromit, so that’ll have plenty of others interested I’m sure. Look for the movie, which has Justin Fletcher reprising his role, sometime next year in the U.S. No specific date is known past Spring 2015. (Source: HitFlix)
