Poster Mania: Gone Girl, The Equalizer, Jersey Boys, and More
Gone Girl. The Equalizer. Jersey Boys. Boyhood. The Rover. The Captive. Cold in July. All of those movies, whether known or not, are featured below in this week’s usual Tuesday Poster Round-Up. For all of the movies, you can check out the movies, their stars and directors, and a release date (if available) below.
Also, make sure to take a look at yesterday’s trailers if you missed them.
With the release of the debut trailer, a poster came online for David Fincher’s Gone Girl. Starring Ben Affleck, the popular novel adaptation will be one of the big players when it comes out on October 3rd. From the looks of things so far, the film should be pretty interesting! (Source: IndieWire)
The debut poster for The Equalizer – starring the popular Denzel Washington – also released this past week. This one is a reboot of sorts for the TV series (of the same name), but more importantly for some, it is a vehicle to reunite Training Day’s director Antoine Fuqua and Denzel. Since a poster dropped, we can expect a trailer very soon. The film will hit theaters September 26th. (Source: Comingsoon)
Along with yesterday’s trailer for Gone Girl came the debut trailer for Clint Eastwood’s (Gran Torino) next directorial project Jersey Boys. The musical autobiography also showed off its first trailer (above). The adaptation of the Broadway musical stars the first-hand Broadway star John Lloyd Young. To me, it looks like the movie will forgo the “big names,” instead opting for quality. I like what I’ve seen so far! Check this movie out starting June 20th. (Source: Broadway World)
Richard Linklater’s (Before Midnight) sprawling (he shot the film over twelve years) coming-of-age drama, Boyhood, is next on the list of poster releases. His film will again star Ethan Hawke (who will be romantically-linked to Patricia Arquette), and the film is finally set to come out on July 11th. I am really excited to see what the movie has to offer, so a poster was just another step towards the movie. Hopefully a trailer comes next…stay tuned! (Source: Facebook)
The Rover is the only film to debut more than one poster (and they can be viewed above). Both posters combine to feature Guy Pearce (Memento) and Robert Pattinson (The Twilight Saga). David Michod’s (Animal Kingdom) next film will hopefully continue his rise into a household name. The crime drama should hit theaters June 13th. (Source: Collider)
Although I hadn’t heard a whole lot about The Captive before today, I can say that the poster I’ve attached got me interested. This one most notably stars Ryan Reynolds, but what you may not know is that it is directedy by Atom Egoyan (Adoration) and also features Rosario Dawson (Trance). The Captive plays Cannes next month and should hit theaters sometime later this year (a U.S.-specific date isn’t known yet). Check out the international poster above. (Source: Ain’t It Cool News)
Jim Mickle’s (Stake Land) next project, Cold in July, released a new poster, too. Today’s final poster shows glimpses of the stars (Michael C. Hall, Sam Shepard, and Don Johnson), but it doesn’t really say a whole lot about the film. The movie lands in limited theaters May 23rd. (Source: IMDb)
