Poster Mania: Godzilla, How to Train Your Dragon 2, 22 Jump Street, and More
Hello and welcome to another Tuesday here at Film Equals. For this week’s edition, there will again be seven upcoming movies with new poster releases. Some, like Godzilla, How to Train Your Dragon 2, 22 Jump Street, and Edge of Tomorrow, are more of the blockbuster variety. The others, like Night Moves, Trust Me, and As Above, So Below, are trying to gain steam before their smaller releases.
Either way, check the posters out below! Oh, and take a look at yesterday’s Trailer Round-Up if you get the chance.
If I was ordering this week’s posters solely on anticipation, Godzilla would be number 1. The film looks like it has everything going for it. Not only is Gareth Edwards (Monsters) in charge of the project, but he has talent like Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen (Oldboy), and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Nowhere Boy) on board. The newest Godzilla will roar us starting May 16th. (Source: TotalFilm)
How to Train Your Dragon 2 would be near the top of my anticipation list as well. Having just (finally!) seen the original, I am ready for another helping come June 13th. Dean DeBlois’ follow-up will return a lot of the voice cast, including Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, and Jonah Hill. I admittedly don’t know a lot about the plot, but I can offer you the latest poster above. (Source: IMP Awards)
Speaking of Jonah Hill, he is featured in the newest poster for 22 Jump Street (above). Co-star Channing Tatum can also be seen, and I’m here to let you know directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will also be returning. Check out 22 Jump Street when it also hits theaters June 13th. The only gallery I have is for the summer blockbuster Edge of Tomorrow. The two big names involved in this project (and shown below in a banner of their own) are Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt (Looper). Directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity), the sci-fic action film is one of the big lookers of the summer and will be available starting June 6th. Check out the poster and two banners below. Personally, I hadn’t heard a lot about the upcoming drama Night Moves until I saw the above poster. However, I am a fan of stars Jesse Eisenberg and Dakota Fanning (Man on Fire), making me exponentially more excited for the movie. Kelly Reichardt’s (Meek’s Cutoff) next film hits limited theaters May 30th. (Source: IMDb)
Following yesterday’s trailer, I thought I’d attach the interesting poster I found for Trust Me. Written, directed, and starring Clark Gregg (The Avengers), the comedy could turn out to be a fun picture. Take a look at the poster above before the movie hits limited theaters June 6th alongside the aforementioned Edge of Tomorrow. As an aside, if you want the entire behind-the-scenes process of shooting a movie poster, follow the source link. (Source: Yahoo)
The final poster could be the most interesting of all. Titled As Above, So Below, the found footage horror thriller (directed by Quarantine’s John Erick Dowdle) unveiled a red-tinged poster with an upside-down Eiffel Tower. I’m not sure what to make of the film at this point, but I’ll probably get a better handle on the movie before it comes out August 15th. It stars Ben Feldman (Cloverfield) and Perdita Weeks (Hamlet).
